Given the outrageous price of shades AND the fact that you're not near many sources? I'd probably buy new lamps.

well, I've learned something that I did not know, that a duvet would also be used for regular comforters! I really only thought they were for down comforters. aside from that (my comment above)to protect my quest bed comforter from my pets, I use a twin sheet folded over and then topped off with a furry throw on the lower half of the guest bed (pillows etc are on the top half) I too have kitties and a dog that like to sleep in this room....

cz90, thanks for the pictures, it really does help. I like the idea of the new addition being lighter in color since it will be the central focal point of your home once it's completed though I think it would look just as lovely with all the same color as the rest of your home. Are you afraid you won't be able to match the rest of your home exactly? You had a beautiful home before and I'm sure you'll enjoy having a...

If you are asking if the island should be the same color as the cabinets or can it be a bit off, IMO it should either be an exact match in color or a totally different color.

When I put the comforter in to try it on the bed - it looked messy and how the heck do you get it flat and even inside?? Someone should film me when I am putting on a comforter cover and sell tickets to watch it - it's pretty funny. I just about end up inside the cover trying to get it into the corners. Get some large safety pins and pin the comforter to the corners of the cover.

If it were just you, I'd say Curb Your Enthusiasm. But since your DH is also involved, I'll just say that I hope you find the perfect doggie! It's very difficult for two people together to resist a common urge, lol. DH and I would also LOVE to have a dog again, but it would completely freak out our two cats, and we just can't do that to these sweet little furballs. Keep us posted...

We bought our tree from them in 2003. We had no problems with the company, it arrived quickly and was easy to set up. The tree looks wonderful, it's one of the most real looking fake trees I've seen. It's very, very full. As with any artificial tree, you'll need to take a lot of time the first year to fluff the tree (seperate all the branches) and if you have sensitive skin wear gloves and...

Hmm, when our kids were in traveling soccer, we played many a game in Reno/Sparks area. We didn't go up in advance so we didn't really have *that* much time to fill in. We used to stay at The Hilton. The kids loved swimming in the pool and eating at the various places the casino's had to offer. We stayed at Harrah's once and I remember watching the circus at 'Circus Circus'. We just ...

I'm confused, duvet covers are normally for down comforters, NOT regular comforters is this what you are trying to put "inside" the duvet? If so most likely it will appear to be bulky and uneven. A down comforter is much slimmer than a regular comforter.

You'd be surprised. In the hands of an experienced paint person, you can get a great match. I wanted some inexpensive paint samples, so I took my BM paint chips to Sherwin Williams. He didn't have the formulas in the system already (sometimes they do), so he scanned them. He dabbed the paint on the chips and the color was so exact, I really had to turn the card to find the dab of paint. I'd ...

A picture would help. If you have online photo storage at a place such as photobucket you can copy and paste the html code into your message. You'll just see the code. The photo itself will not show up until you preview your message. You're home sounds very interesting. I'm looking forward to seeing photos.

IMHO they are too short, by an inch or so. I don't think they are hung too high though. If you cannot let down the hem, you might use rings at the top. They also look not quite full enough. What is your fullness ratio? I was taught that panels should always be at least 2x the width being covered (ex. 42" window = 84" panel) or a width and a half of fabric (ex. 54" fabric = 81" panel) ...

Are you wondering if you sell your house will it be a problem if you have two-hole knobs? If so, I wouldn't worry. I have both in my kitchen and utility rooms, and I plan to stay here. If the future owners don't like it, it's their problem. :)

what about some colorful decorative vases, or maybe something crystal or clear like a hurricane, or something taller more narrow ones filled with silver and red xmas balls? Maybe you could do something that would grow an araryllis in it? You have a very neutral kitchen so really anything would look good, just have to find what looks good to you. I didnt like any of the light colors, I prefer the first two colors you choose only because they are midtone, so they are richer looking to me but not the right colors. IMO you need more color in your kitchen, either through more accessories or what about in paint. You like the color...
