Looking to shorten the barrels...

I believe all those guns had solid steel barrels, but best to double check. If the barrels are Damascus, I wouldn't waste any time on it and wouldn't fire it. Jim

If you can see the end of the spring, get a screw driver in the end and turn it like a screw to screw it out, no idea so if it's lefty loosy.

SW1911 external extractor...
Published (2009-11-26 20:50:00)
Sir; Correct, the S&W extractor cannot be adjusted - but - remove it from the pistol carefully and on the very bottom behind the hook take a needle file and cut a very small angle (just break the sharp edge) and then gently polish it with some very fine grit. This will let the case rim slip up under the extractor hook easier. Harry B.

two pice guide rod
Published (2009-11-23 18:59:00)
Quote: "I called Wilson to day. I talked to a rep. I asked them to make me one. They said they would." Great. Hope that solves your problem. Ask them to send you a couple of the short, cut off pins to use for locking the guide rod during disassembly. You can use them to buy additional small nails and cut lots more as needed once you see what size and length is appropriate. Remember which rep you talked to and check back with...

stock question
Published (2009-11-26 23:38:00)
Call up and talk to the folks at H&S Precision. They made the stock. The stock is hollow. Perhaps a new recoil pad would do? I believe the Sendero recoil pads are quite thick. - Ivan.

Firing pin spring Ortgies Werk...
Published (2009-11-24 09:23:00)
I am confused. The recoil spring guide should not have remained in place if the spring flew away as the guide fits into the back of the spring. Was the guide put in wrong and put into the pin rather than into the back of the spring? ----------------------------------------------------------------- The "guide" that I am assuming is the 1/2 inch nail attacted to the spring and it was inserted (guide toward muzzle) into a metal...

remove firing pin, Bernardelli...
Published (2009-11-24 22:42:00)
Haven't made much progress, but I now think the problem for me is removing the "firing pin stop pin" if I read it correctly. Found an old diagram for a Bernardelli VP (not my model) but it should be related.

chamber reaming?
Published (2009-11-25 17:39:00)
I'm with Slamfire on this one. It is a blowback action set up for 40 S&W. 10% higher chamber pressures, more recoil, more energy . . . ugh, it all makes me feel kinda queasy.

Windage MOA (AR-15)
Published (2009-11-19 22:05:00)
From what I heard, NM windage knobs have an extra detent. This would make sense to me, that one could take a standard "click" and by adding an extra detent offset to one another could possible make a click between a click, thus, converting 1/2 MOA to 1/4 MOA. But, the pictures of the NM windage knobs I see only have 1 hole where the detent spring and ball would go... hmmm

How short? Too short and you're going to have cycling issues.

Sir; From your description I don't think you screwed up your Kimber! With your pistol apart take the barrel on the frame and move it back as far as you can. There should be about 1/32nd of an inch between the bottom edge of your barrel and the top edge of the ramp. If there is, you're O.K. Chamber rattle: If it's only .002 you did no harm. The 45ACP is a low pressure ...

Is that berretta designed to take the pounding that the 10mm will give it? I'm guessin' not....... but it is your gun-play with it at your own risk.

Loose front sight - 12 new posts

Loose front sight I just replaced a broken front rifle sight on my remington 870 shotgun with an OEM remington replacement front rifle sight. It has a dove tail that pushes into a slot on the ramp. The old front sight had to be hammered out with a brass punch. The new sight is loose enough to slide with my fingers. Any ...

I see the firing pin Hi guys, I'd like your opinion on something: I've got this 9mm semiauto that's kind of obscure, a Bernardelli P-018. Only has had a few hundred rounds through it, and I noticed a couple strange things with it. 1) if I tilt the gun forward, the firing pin protrudes through the hole and extends all...

Looking to shorten the barrels of an old 12 ga SxS I have an old Crescent Peerless 12ga SxS that I just picked up for around $100. I don't think it will ever be a collectors item as the previous owner has polished off all of the case hardening colors and tore up some of the screw heads. The gun is very solid and still shoots ...

Whatever you want!! The 375 H+H is a natural. I'm inclined to reserve these actions for long cartridges. The H+H is also modest pressure. If you think the cartridge will be around,a .338 Rem Ultra has potential, its ballistic match to the Lapua. And,the lapua is an option. An eccentric choice might be a 404 Jeffries.
