Herohog, The new 4" barreled Redhawks come from the factory with rubber grips and a different grip locater designed just for them. It is different than the longer barreled Redhawks. To use the same grips as the longer barreled Redhawks you have to change out the grip locator also. Jim

Quote: Has anyone used the Eagle grips? I assume that you have, Webley. On a 1-10, what do you rate them in comfort, aesthetics, and quality? I've never personally used them (all my S&W's wear Houges) but I've yet to meet anyone who has had anything bad to say about them.

Good decision. The GP100 is one of the best all round 357 revolvers currently in production. I have one and its a outstanding shooter. Good luck, roaddog28

Before I would drop the money for the Smith, I would get a Ruger. It's much less, and it will let you know if you like the caliber enough to buy the Smith.

"I seem to remember reading somwhere that the .455 Webley & Scott autos were designed so that in addition to .455 Auto, they could also use .45 ACP ammo in a pinch." I don't buy it for a second. The two cases are fairly different in length, with the W&S case being longer. The Webley round works at significantly lower chamber pressure. I wouldn't want to try to shoot an FMJ .45 ACP round through a...

You will also love the wheel gun at the range when your not having to chase your brass all over the floor. I have lots of both and I shoot both often. I do love S&W revolvers and I buy the older ones with pinned barrels. For concealed carry I use a Sig P228 and sometimes a S&W Model 36 depending on what I'm wearing.

The Colt 2nd and 3rd gen black powder, cap and ball revolvers used raw barrel and cylinders supplied by Uberti. On some models, the grip frames came from Uberti. Remainder of parts are from North America. Machined, finished and assembled in the USA.

I like revolvers

...and may well not be as reliable as some semi autos. They have a number of relatively small parts that are relied upon to ensure correct timing and operation. They are more complex machines than many may think. I can't say that I consider revolvers to have great advantages in terms of reliability, and perhaps they have disadvantages, but in terms of ease of use for those with limited handgun experience a double action revolver may well...

You can get a lot closer, for a lot less $$$ than buying another FA, by installing a regular SBH gripframe on your Hunter (it's longer/larger than the Hunter/BlackHawk gripframe).

There's a LOT of Ruger BlackHawk variations - well into a hundred different ones, when speaking to collecting them.
You might want to first discern & drill down to the ones that interest YOU the most.
Your .32 Single-Six is a New Model (2-pin cylinder frame), and alone has at least 10-12 different varients - as it was made in 4 different barrel lengths, two models as a Bisley, two as ...

Often there seems to be much controversy between the two brands on the gun boards. Is there anyone else out there that just loves them both? I've owned both- a Ruger GP-100, 4in barrel, and a Smith 629, 8 3/8 barrel. My Ruger- fiber optic sights, Hogue rubber grip......I can remember hand-polishing that gun until it gleamed...but mellowly, like sterling silver. Bank vault tough and...

I'd try using a grip panel locator from an older gun. Numrich has them and they're quite inexpensive ($3.80).

If that doesn't work, you may try finding some aftermarket grips other than Houges. I beleive Eagle Grips makes the smaller factory-style grip panels for the Redhawk, perhaps you could give them a call and see if they can make you a set for the newer-...

The only thing I can come up with is this:
The original (pre WWII) Colt SAA's were designed with blackpowder in mind. It is my understanding that the SAA grip is designed to roll up in the hand under recoil so as to put the hammer in the proper position for quick one-handed recocking. Perhaps the post WWII SAA's hammers were redesigned to take into account the different recoil of smokeless ...

High Standard 9 Shot Single Action??????
I have an opportunity to buy one of these with a cowboy style holster for $150. Are they worth anything? Never had any experience with one of these. Its definetly not the prettiest gun I've ever seen (I own a Ruger Single Six in stainless with cherry grips) but if its a reliable revolver, ...

I'm thinking the only thing I've ever seen that was a true pocket 44 magnum, was a 44 mag derringer ( but I haven't seen one in years )
