I love the dials you choose on some of these, they look just perfect! What kind of dials are they? What make are they? Also, what material did you use for the face board? The textured black material you use on others kits seems a little more attractive but, that's just my opinion. You know I think you have great taste in your kits, I have seen some photos from the 20s of some of these made with glass cabinets, that would be pretty unique...

No reference intended to a certain future Dodger infielder, who was still in high school at the time. And who probably really hated this song. Thank you again. You know, it's alot of fun building these radios. It's like a treasure hunt while searching for parts. I search antique radio and ham radio swap meets. The internet has lots of vintage radio related sites with classified ads and there's also ebay. The trick is to find the best looking (and functioning) parts to make these radio look and play good. T.J. Fowler - He led a fine R&B orchestra out of Detroit in the late '40s & 50s, recording mostly on the Savoy label. He deftly mixed swing, jazz and R&B with an inventive series of recordings that I have always found compelling. He's something of a study of mine - I plan on modeling my own (future) band on his style. Paul "Hucklebuck" Williams on the Tenor.

PM me your e-mail address and I'll try to get a couple off to you. Do you understand Yiddish? Other than the couple of pop tunes I have, the others are comedy bits in another language. I don't get the jokes. __________________ -Guy http://www.myspace.com/guykurshenoff

I do regular recording with a set of vintage RCA ribbons, so I can certainly appreciate the attraction.
Try this site for a ton of information on a very, very wide variety of microphones.

I had a 1948 console Philco once... the dial was somewhat like yours, didn't have the push buttons though. Only had two light bulbs, one at each end of the dial.

Judging from that terminal board with the four screws, there should be a loop antenna mounted in the back of the cabinet, with four wires emerging from it. Those wires connect to the terminal board -- the specific connections are shown in the schematic for your set, which you can find here: http://www.nostalgiaair.org/PagesByM...4/M0013294. pdf

Very cool, I'll have to check it out... but you know, Armstrong's life
isn't exactly news. There have already been several other worthwhile
biographies. I've read ones by James Lincoln Collier and Gary Giddins, and
both were very good.

I use this, it has a Radio, CD Player, and AUX jacks at the rear for my IPOD. I got it on ebay though it did cost me $100.00 to ship it from Colarado to Australia, must admit I love it to bits.
I have to play it through a "Trip down transformer" as the current is higher here in Australia, but is a very small unit that hides behind the radio itself
