Check out Dolgin Engineering. They have quad chargers with worldwide voltage. The charger can simultaneously charge for batteries in
3.5 hours. I haven't seen Li Ion chargers that can do a one hour fast charge, unlike NiCad or NiMh.

This is B.S., not all
200s have back focus issues. The only way for a fixed lens camera to have a back focus issue is if the camera has been dropped or jarred and a lens element has come loose or become tweaked.
How are you judging focus? Only using the LCD and focus enhancement? You really need to hook it up to a decent sized HD monitor, the LCD on the 200 is not very good so you really have...

John:
Three very different cameras. Each has their own pluses and minuses. I have used the HMC150 and I own the 170. I have not used the JVC but Rick has JVC GY HM-100 - Likes and Gripes
Here are my opinions.
1. 170 is the best pro camera of these three but costs a lot more, especially when you factor in P2 cards. 4:2:2
color space on the DVC PROHD codec of the 170 is superior to the ...

If you want primes, Nikon AIS primes are plentiful and affordable. Newer lenses may not have manual iris control, auto focus with too little focus rotation in manual mode. Head shots are typically going to use 50mm and 85mm lenses. Spend the extra money for f1.4 versions--the 50mm is cheap, the 85mm is expensive. Try KEH and Adorama for good used lenses.
The other 35mm SLR
prime option ...

I found a source for V-mount or Anton/Bauer mount
Li Ion batteries and chargers called Empire Scientific. They use Japanese cells and I have had good experience with them in a rental house environment for three years, where I use 12)V-Mount batts. in two sizes and 4)Dual charger/AC adapters with LCD displays. The batteries have LED status indicators.
The 100 watt hour batteries only cost ...

Hi Art:
Sad to say, $1,000.00 is consumer level, not pro level for a mid size and weight camera like the HPX300.
I have had great results with my Sachtler DV-6SB with Miller Solo DV carbon legs, but if I loaded up the 300 with matte box, follow focus and
Anton Bauer batteries, it would be too much. And my Sachtler setup is a cheap one, about $3,000.00.
All you will get for under $...

I'm not a Mac user so I don't know of any mac-specific advice, but the most obvious thing to check is to make sure that the P2/Tape switch is in "tape" mode... then put the camera in
VCR mode, and it should work just like any other DV camera.

Dale - I use CS4 OnLocation with a
JVC HD100 and as far as I'm concerned it only works via Firewire (and I love it). I don't know of anyone who has successfully captured video over USB using OL. I do know that CS4 Premerie Pro does not natively support capture of video over USB or USB 2.0. So, my guess is that OL also does not have this support.
I actually looked into finding a Firewire...

If you want to film in SD, you could use a SD lens for
HPX500. However, using a SD lens for filiming HD - is like having a Porsche with a Volkwagon engine inside. The SD lens won't be capture details HD demands. Don't your HPX500 comes with a HD lens already?
