1080i v. 1080p?

I blame the HDTV set makers for this for slapping "1080p" stickers all over everything and making people think there is a 1080p/60 acquisition format. Hordes of people stumbling, chanting zombie-like "1080p.... 1080p.... " without knowing that by itself, without specifying a frame rate, this is meaningless.

Hi Jeff H., I checked out that Cooler Master case, and I do like that it has an eSata port at the front. (And alot sexier than the Lian Li, might make the wife jealous :) Best,

Only you know what you want the beast to actually do. Mine was set up to be a "good all rounder", based on the available technology at the time. Twin processor, two 250 gig mirrored drives for the OS, two 500 gig striped drives for the "big stuff", decent graphics etc. Pretty small beer now but pretty mind boggling in little 'ol Dunedin when I was trying to get it built. Still runs like a top and as...

My editing "bay" is a little alcove, where I intended to expose only my monitor, desk, and case. All of them are black, so as to not provide distractions. Real clean and simple. My new case is the best I've ever owned for cooling and size, and accoustics. Accomdates large PSUs on top or bottom (or both) and is inexpensive. Not as nice as Stephan's case, but less than half the cost. Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER HAF 932 RC-932-KKN1-GP Black Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case - Computer Cases

This is most likely due to HDV drop out. Make sure Premiere doesn't report any files with dropped frames or problem. Hello everybody! I am about to put together my new PC for HDV NLE. (The main use will be Photoshop though.) The software I already have is Premiere Pro with Aspect HD. So far I've been following more or less the DIY6 recommendations from VideoGuys. I had planned to buy the PNY Nvidia Quadro FX1700 Professional Video Edition card, but started having some doubts: - Do I really need the video breakout box, isn't HDMI sufficient? (or are...

I have been shooting with a Sony HDR-FX1 1080i underwater video setup. I see some cameras like the Sony HDR FX1000 which will shoot at 1080p, as well as the PMW-EX3 which will also shoot 1080p. My question is, whether the 1080i footage is shown on a computer screen, an HD projector on a flat screen in a seminar hall, or on an HD 1080p TV. or the same venues with the video shot natively at ...

I have captured and edited an HDV PAL project using premiere pro CS3 I have also succesfuly produced standard definition DVDs of the project using encore but have had enormous problems producing a Blu Ray copy of the same project. Hi everyone, I've been thinking about getting a new computer and I almost did about 2 weeks ago but all this 'credit crunch' has spoilt the party. What it was £750 one month ago is now over £900. Basically I can't afford that for the moment. I film (XHA1) and edit mostly all the time so I need something reliable. I was considering the option of upgrading my existing computer which is 4 years...

I've got an FX-1 and am trying to figure if there is a way to capture the component out to a PC laptop? The Blackmagic Intensity Pro looks like a great option except that it needs an internal PCI slot. I know I'm also looking at harddrive issues, like maybe an e-sata/pcmia card? So, am I chasing a rainbow here? Inquiring minds want to know.

Hey guys, I shot a last minute assignment for a client requiring HD on my Sony V1u in HDV format. The post production house they are using does not have a deck capable of playing back HDV format as they us Panasonic P2 and the Avid/PC system. Raylight users; I've seen some references to raylight as good codec for editing FX-1 footage as an inexpensive alternative to Cineform. However, the emphasis seems to be on .mxf file handling and conversion to 24 fps. Has anyone used it for hdv 60i straight through post, ie used in Premiere Pro and After Effects and if so, how does it perform? Does it give editing/rendering speed advantages or...
