The KJ20 does not have a 2x does it? So the reach of a J16 would be a lot more than the KJ20, BUT if you are worried about using a 2x I don't blame you! When HD first sprang up the idea of putting a 2x on any lens was blasphemy, and even zooms at all were frowned upon! Steve

An interesting document. In parts of the full report there are some interesting arguments against 10 bit compressed codecs is and the importance of avoiding scaling gets a lot of attention. Makes me chuckle that the tests center around 1080 production when the EBU have been pushing 720P production.

Did I miss something? Didn't they say which codec yielded the best results? Or is it just this blanket statement: Use a codec above 100 megabits per second. -C

Hey guys, I have been having the hardest time weighing the pros and cons of the EX1 and the HVX200a. I didn't realize until recently that the CMOS censors might be a huge hiccup in my shooting. I have come across an interesting clip of a police car that looks absolutely horrible with the half to 2/3 frame being flashed and the rest dark. The skew on pans also worries me a little bit. I ...

Just run off some tests on some "budget" HD lenses. I have a Fujinon ZA17x7.6 and Fujinon HAs18x7.6. I tested them against my Fujinon HA22x7.8 (basically a standard, quality HD lens). I have extracted some stills but unless you see them as bitmaps they don't mean much and the bmps are really big, so I may get around to posting them, but for now to summarise what I saw. I am using an HPX170 and am therefore operating tapeless. The instruction manual says that the ambient operating temperature for the camera is 32 degrees F to 104. However, in other instruction manuals and also advertising for this camera I have read that if you're recording tapeless, you can operate at colder temperatures. Is this true and what is the range? Hello, I wanted to keep the hours on my xha1 low, and not run the risk of damaging it. A "Cheap MiniDV Deck" would be nice, but the MiniDV Gods have made no such thing, since most of them run well above $1000. I need some help in understanding better the concept of 4:2:2 and 4:4:4 color ratios and converting these ratios.
