While the upscale crash sounds like a bug that should be reported to support so it can be fixed. The DVD export method doesn't require upscaling at all, rather it is important to master at your HD resolution whatever that is (1280x720, 1440x1080 or 1920x1080), then resize that output file to you target resolution.

I'll find the avi file this weekend and file a trouble ticket. Maybe that will help. Again, I have only experienced this once.

Thank you David and John for your helpful responses. I have reported the matter to Cineform support and also to Adobe through the crash report window. In the meantime, I did what David suggested and tried to export using the 'Cineform AVI File' format option at native 1440 X 1080 25p, 1.333 pixel - Same crash. So I then decided to try Microsoft AVI format export, but using the Cineform codec preset. This worked and I was left with a...

Another Adobe PPro CS4 + Cineform NeoHD Mac user (I use that generously) who has shelved the product since purchasing as it performs nothing of value at this point. Big fan of Cineform on the PC in the early days of HD but not sure if market realities forcing them to become more niche focused.

Leave the cineform encoded video on the Premiere timeline and either export directly to Encore or go to Encore and import the Premiere timelines without doing any transcoding. Once you have the video formatted in Encore, let it do the transcoding to generate either a Blu-Ray or DVD as part of its normal build process. I normally do both, and this gave me the fastest workflow in CS4. I used to export the video in a disc compliant format using...

David Newman: What do you mean a 'sample file', export a clip and upload it? How will that help you solve the issue? (just curious)

Interesting to hear that you are having the problem with HDV. I am having the same problem with Sony XDCam EX1 footage converted to CF in HDLink, but only when played by PPro, either CS3, or CS4. If I play the CFHD.avi clip in a player (WMP, etc.) the synch is fine. I've never figured out what the problem is. My workaround is to unlink the A & V in PPro timeline, adjust the synch. It's a real ...

Hi Barry, Well that is all very odd. The performance you are getting in WMP is want you should be nearing in Vegas (although Vegas has overhead, using RGB rather and YUV, and not using a DirectX surface.) Vegas is a little slower than it should be (their VfW support is not particularly fast), but you are out by a large factor. Preview Full should be RT, although Best Full often isn't on ...

File a trouble ticket ( Support Center ) as I'm not sure what you are doing, particularly with the HQ files. Support will likely want samples.

Yes. 60i to 24p conversion will have temporal artifacts if you source wasn't 24p embedded within 60i. However many to do use this feature, particularly if you can lock the camera to 1/60th shutter, which almost removes much of strobe judders. Of course 24p, even when shot with a 24p camera will have motion judder, with certain movements. 24p shooting requires a more stable camera. You need ...
