What do you think is a good tripod option for a XH-A1 with a NTG-2, and a LitePanel Micro LED light kit connected? My budget is about 500 dollars, and was thinking if a decent ($400-ish) tripod with a fluid head that can support a lot of weight (15-20, just to be safe) would be better option.

Hi all quick intro. Just found this place man what a resource!!! I have been shooting wedding and event video for about 4 years now. Mainly for friends and family and their referals. It's turn out to be a nice little side business and made enough last year to re-invest into some better gear. So just got my XH-A1 and playing with it daily to get up to speed. So I look forward to ...

Gang. I've been working with the XL2 for years creating clips online. DCLugi Online Videos, Funny Junk and Cool Video Clips on Super Deluxe I recently have been given the chance to do a DVD for distribution and potential TV broadcast. Staying in this price range is the XH A1 a respectable upgrade consideration for this need? A hardy thanks, -DC

http://blip.tv/file/1217997 The camera shooting this police action is probably an amateur camera, but you can see the Democracy Now cameramen using XH A1s on some of the shots.

With help from my daughter I made a new version of the Custom Preset movie. Many people asked for a version with skin. Well, you all can find it here: Canon XH-A1 Custom Preset Movie V2.2 'Skintones' on Vimeo I also want to thank all the people who contributed with the CP's they made. With any luck I also will bring out version 2.1, which is an updated version of the 1.0 which is still ...

I want to downconvert 24F HD footage to SD via camerafor ease of editing. I want the option to recapture at a later date in HD and swap out the SD for HD in Vegas. I know of GearShift and the 60GB per hour, including Cineform, SD, and Source is just too much when all I need is SD right now. I remember reading in the manual that the XHA1 downconverts to SD 60i for all framerates including 24F....

I messed up a gig this weekend because I thought I understood how to setup the Azden 200 Wireless Dual Mic system on the XH-A1. Actually, I messed up two gigs in a single day. After not sleeping all night and feeling like someone kicked me in the stomach, I got my equipment out and started messing with it. So, I thought I might save someone else from my recent fate and tell you what I thought...

I usually shoot 30F and am thinking of using the footage to do slow motion in post. I know that 60i would be better for that, and I have no problems with that, but I don't think final cut likes me mixing frame rates...

I have a project that I know is going to be an SD DVD. In fact I have 3 other SD cameras covering the event. In trying to save on HD space and render times… Is it best to switch the A1 to SD? Will it capture record to tape HDV anyways? I just received it last week and I’m working out the color settings right now. I’ll be outside all day and other then the sun being in or out, the light ...

A Weekend in Wales on Vimeo i shoot at quite a high shutter speed (around 500) not sure if you will see it watching directly from vimeo, you may have to down load it when the waves are rolling they seem a bit jerky but the riders look smooth to me (about 1:55 is an obvious example) whats your opinion/advise thanks

For Guillermo: see the Presets thread for guidance on matching the XH A1 to the Panasonic. For Guy: unless the composition of the shoot calls for widescreen, you might be better off at 4:3 if it's intended for web delivery.

I've been using an HV-20 and manually adjusting the aperture to just before clipping of 100% zebras. Is it possible to get the XH-A1 to automatically expose that way? I've read that the camera is incredibly tweakable, so I'm wondering if this is possible with it. Thanks very much.

What fstop are you guys using to achieve a deep depth of field, say for landscape shots? I try not to go above 7 if I can help it as I've noticed a loss in sharpness when using the Canon WA adapter. Usually I'm aiming for 5.6. Kevin
