I went there for a quick takeout lunch yesterday. I had the Turkey and gravy sandwich with pepperjack cheese and a side of homemade chips. The sandwich was very good...and huge...and $5. I was very happy with the experience. The owner is really a nice dude too. I will be back often.

Sala Thai
Published (2008-11-17 14:33:00)
We finally tried Sala Thai Saturday night. We had two orders of crab rangoon, Pad Thai, Peanut Chicken, Thai Iced Tea, and one Fat Squirrel. The goons were YUMMY! One of the best in town. I am partial to LLX crab rangoon, but there really isn't much difference between the two. My pad thai was really good. The peanut chicken was okay, but too spicy. It only had one pepper by the name, so we assumed it would be "just...

I heard awhile back they were going to be doing all different types of music, but see mainly 'jjo hard rock type and tried 'n true tribute and cover bands booked so far. I wish them luck and I will say Dave Cobb has a kick-ass lighting system. I gave up on the Club T. a long time ago and the far west side/Middleton could probably use a legitimate music venue.

Doug's Soul Food
Published (2008-11-19 12:18:00)
We finally tried Doug's last night. I was very excited to try it after glowing Forumite reviews. Gotta say, we had a mixed reaction. First the good...The fried chicken was great, the catfish, also fantastic. Otherwise, though, the hush puppies, sweet potatoes, ribs, greens and black eyed peas all were overcooked. The hush puppies were nearly burned. I can tell they would have been good if cooked the proper amount. Maybe it's because...

New Restaurant Muramoto
Published (2008-11-21 23:14:00)
Love love love. I admit this was the first time I'd gotten around to patronizing ol' Shinji, and while I regret missing out on how good this was for this long, it was a quality of food that said "welcome, friend. no hard feelings." Sakizuke of kobe tartare, scallop, king crab, sweetbreads, and braised pork. All were wonderful, although my tartare fell apart and I made an ass of myself trying to gather it up....

tried the new muramoto. still looks a lot like cocoliquot, but the lighting is darker... the food was all very good. only a couple things I could have lived without. I'm glad they are there. looking forward to sushi for lunch too. we needed a good sushi spot on the square. I'd like to read other reviews/experiences of the place if anyone has been yet...

Deli Delicious is one of Madison's hidden gems. It is located in a strip mall on County M near Hwy. 113, on the North Side, in Westport. It's run by a friendly guy, Darren, who is there every day. It's open 11-7 Monday through Saturday (til 8 on Friday). It's a small place (mostly takeout) with a simple menu: really good sandwiches, and really good home-cooked takeout dinners, and cheap. ...

The Blue Chalk Club closed its doors Monday due to lack of business. Poor ownership lead to bad service, bad prices and a lack of musical direction. Many bands were treated unfairly. Most people came once and never returned. It's a shame, because its a beautiful place, if somewhat misdesigned for a bar and resturant. While they are still looking for someone to buy the poolhall, some people...

We went on Sunday a few weeks ago. It's a cute little place. The kinda hole in the wall joint you used to get points for knowing existed (before the internet). Great fried chicken, good food, EXCELLENT pie. Very reasonable check at the end as well. Anybody else been?

The Book Police and I took in a dinner together this evening and though the conversation mostly steered toward why some forons hate us, it was enjoyable. It was dinner time on a Wednesday. Didn't expect to have to make a reservation, but sure enough at 6:30 there was actually a packed house and we had to wait probably 25 minutes for a table. Once seated we were immediately served ...

I'm not in the business of full restaurant reviews - so I'm sorry if I can't think of everything that goes into one of these; I also went there a day or two after the initial opening several weeks ago, but I did have about 75% of the menu. The highlights for me were, first and foremost, the drinks. The place is aiming for a nattspil-like idea: good drinks and atmosphere with good snacky food (...

Abuelo's has a new spicy salsa that I really like. It almost reminds me of some homemade salsa my Mexican boss's wife made for me years ago (I still yearn for the flavors in that little jar!). Also, for vegetarians - be sure you ask for the vegetarian menu. It's got a few more choices than it had when the restaurant first opened, and there are still meaty things in some unexpected places...

So every year I get a nice Lobster dinner for my birthday. I'm wondering where we should go this year. I'm certain there are some opinions out there so lets have 'em. Thanks

Took a short trip to the ozarks - came back and this place was open in my hood. Is it fair I start take credit for starting this thread even though I have not yet been there, much less know anything about it? It looks pretty damn promising... So please, I know there are plenty of you in the Atwood neighborhood on here - give me the scoop, who's tried it?

I'm always curious about the ethnic types of restaurants I've never tried. Your tummy isn't satisfied by just a handful of cultures, right ? So, it was good to see good reviews: http://www.madisonatoz.com/2006/12/arbat.html of Arbat Russian Restaurant in Fitchburg: http://www.arbat-restaurant.com/ I prefer to use music to measure driving around Madison, so I started up "...
