Bloody Nora I knew it would take a while but its only just finished. So far so good, when I clicked Music the "Updating Libary (This could take sevaral minutes)" popped up, this worried me as I've never seen this before and it first appeared just before the first "No Content" error. However (a fancy but) this time 30 secs later my podcasts arrived. I'll tell you if it happens again...

Best Budget? TV ~£400?

The Sammy is no more likely to die then any other. I have one that is going strong some 4 years after purchase, I have one that developed a fault after 18 months and that still didn't stop me buying another. As for a Toshiba, I had one of those fail after 18 months, and that was a CRT.

No, sorry, I picked up one of these (the middle, white with red & black stripes) at the airport and I like it. Protects it, and easy to get out. Need to get a clear case for my Gen 5 nano tho!

Gorky seems to have hit the nail on the head with this. She wants an mp3 player, and all her mates have said she should get a Touch (so presumably they already have them/are getting them). In this case, two non-nerds would be better than a non-nerd and nerd combo: http://xkcd.com/309/

DVD recording starts and finishes early Driving my partner nuts... she's missed the crucial ending of 3 films recently. TV should be fine. I've got the new EPG and haven't had any issues with it at all. It does take a while to get used to, like everything new. The question you should really ask yourself, is will you watch the new HD channels! If so then go for it, if not then is it worth the £120 a year you're going to be paying out?

I think you can buy the 8gb one on Amazon for £135 approx at the moment. I would say that it is way worth it and its so much more than an MP3 player (videos, wifi, internet browsing, games, apps, etc.)!

Better picture apart (and even thats not so great an improvement on an average size screen at normal viewing distances) imo blu-ray is inferior not superior - more expensive hardware, more expensive titles, less extras, region coding an issue again with some titles better in other areas, shoddy releases, some extras only accessible if you can be bothered to connect the player to your network and ...

I've just ordered a V+ box, options were:- 1. Installation of £ 75 plus £ 5 per month (to keep existing Virgin box, which doesn't have internal drive), or 2. Installation of £ 99 plus £ 0 per month (to take away old top-box) Went for 2. - fingers crossed I get the newer Samsung box I don't think you need VIP package for the above, just TV XL Not a lot of HD on Virgin - I don't ...
