1stluvispooh--PM is on the way! And I'm going to check Craigslist as well or Freecycle for my area..see what I can find. I don't trust Ebay, because every time somebody I know has bought something from there they have had their PayPal account hacked.

Guest with wheelchair - temp ramp?
Published (2008-12-04 20:47:00)
Any good handyman can make you a plywood ramp as I have seen my pastor's wife make one at church over the front steps. My house has a cement ramp that is home made also. Depending on the weather you can even paint it but that would make it possibly slick. Yeah, being hoisted over a thresh hold is like someone picking you up by your arms and legs and dragging you into the house. It is very nice of you to go to all of this trouble. Now for...

Here's another idea: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_t?...ball&x=12&y=16 The Giga Ball. We got one of these for Justin last Christmas and he still uses it almost every day. It's strictly an indoor toy (I had read many reviews of it popping easily outside) and takes up quite a bit of space. But it's big enough actually I can climb inside with him. He just likes to hang out in there and read, or sometimes he sits...

Schmeck OT Because Kirbydog48 said that there had been 2 suspensions and anytime a situation rises to the level of a suspension at the very least the IEP team needs to do a manifestation determination and if that is a contributing factor needs to modify the IEP to improve the situation. Yes I do agree if the first IEP had been done properly there would be no need for a second (iether IEP meeting or suspension) bookwormde

The liquid SupraNuThera lemon-lime flavor vitamins I ordered arrived today. On the TACA website, several people cautioned against the Tropical Fruit flavor, but recommended the lemon-lime. OMG, the lemon-lime was so horrible, I don't even want to know what Tropical Fruit tastes like!! Zoe's only 3, so I don't want to try a pill on her yet. I'll try to think of something I can stir this stuff into, so she won't taste...

They did have the Leap Pads plus Writing on clearance because they are discontinuing it. Books were $5-$7 and I don't remember how much the pads were. I know it is not the Leapster 2 and they are expensive. My children's Leapsters just broke too. I was considering replacing them but can not do that. My chidlren already have the Leap Pads plus writing so I picked up a few new cartridges and books for that on clearance. You may also...

I agree that parents know their child best, and if they think the child will be fine and re-directed at school, then send them in, but we've had parents who send the kid in screaming, etc, and they just get a call right back. Also, I never give a reason why my child is out from school. I just say that my daughter so-and-so will be absent from school this day. End of explanation. We can have up to 5 absences a quarter, then it is a...

Friends and I are having a party this Saturday. One of my guests is para and uses a wheelchair. She initially wasn't going to be able to attend but is available now. This means I have two days to make the party location (another friend's house) accessible. I can/will discuss it with my friend and see what she prefers. She really likes to keep the fuss to a minimum, though, and I ...

My fellow ASD parents, have any of you been to a DAN (Defeat Autism Now) doctor? What was involved? Did they do blood tests? Would you recommend going to one? Would a regular pediatrician be aware of tests that would help identify any biological differences in our kids? I'm not expressing myself very well, but I go back and forth on this topic. Some people post about how their DAN doctor is...

Okay, I'm a first time mom here and I'm freaking out... Saturday morning I went into my 15mo DS's bedroom and got him out of his crib. Brought him into my room and nursed him like normal. Some of you may know that Coach Gene Stallings, former coach of Alabama, Texas A&M, and the Dallas Cowboys had a son with Down's Syndrome. Well, his son passed away in August and this is an interview with Coach Stallings about his son and the effect his son had on his life. I found it quite touching. DS7, who has SID, could care less about the presents he gets for Christmas. Two of the four presents he asked for (Wii and Wii game) are part of the family present and one of the four (Star Wars DVD) has been purchased by my DDad. He doesn't want anything else. I asked him to come up with other things but he says it's too hard. What do I do? I told him that if we didn't have a tv to ...

Hello, My mom just got diagnosed with splenic marginal zone lymphoma I wondered if anyone has ever heard of it, had any experiences with it? It is a very rare type of lymphoma & basically they told her that it has no cure & they cannot do anything for her until she starts showing physical symptoms (she has none as of now). Then, they can do chemo to help, but not cure. I cannot ...

At least in the summer, I could take him to the pool for several hours each day and wear him out. School was out all week this week so he was home for a grand total of nine days. Okay. I am really mad and frustrated with MJC. First they say Dad can no longer be my scribe for tests... Today I was told I couldn't use the bathroom! So I'm getting used to strange things from my son (6) who is an Aspie. He's so funny and so into things that others would deem strange. Last week, he was suposed to write a story about his favorite "special present". His was about the year Santa brought him nothing but fans of all sizes. It was 2 years ago, and he still remembers it like yesterday. "Santa" has learned not to waste money on toys ...
