paying for dining plan w/gift cards
Published (2009-12-28 17:27:00)
Don't do online check-in with a credit card, they will automatically charge the dining plan to the credit card (others have reported this). I wouldn't do online check-in at all since you will need to have someone run the gift cards at the front desk. There's never much of a line at BW.

Switch reservations from Jan to...
Published (2009-12-28 20:30:00)
If you cancel the January reservation now, your points will go into the Holding Account which will add an additional layer of challenge in using them at a later date - you won't be able to make a reservation using those points until 60 days before arrival. Since you don't yet know the dates in March it may not matter, but be aware that March is a busy month with Spring Break reservations and availability will become more and more...

Your ADR's have nothing to do with the DDP so don't worry. Have a wonderful vacation. Bill

Theme park parking
Published (2009-12-28 09:13:00)
Just adding that SSR, OKW, VWL, BCV, BWV & BLT are all on site resorts. If you are staying at one of them, you do not have to pay to park at the theme parks. But as erionm aready posted, DVC membership by itself does not entitle one to free parking at the them parks.

DVC and Cash Discount Questiona
Published (2009-12-28 21:52:00)
The member discount is 25% and is subject to availability. There will be days and times where you won't be able to reserve. One thing you can do to find out which is better is to give MS a call tomorrow and ask them to check dates and the amount for you. This way, you can compare. But, it sounds like your pin code deal is pretty good.

Planning Question Re: Guests
Published (2009-12-28 20:11:00)
If you add them to the reservation, it would be for all nights. If adding them will not put you over the room occupancy, add them to the reservation. Since you are not doing the DDP once you move to AKV you don't have to worry about paying for them.

Room Types at AKV
Published (2009-12-28 12:59:00)
As far as I know we will not able to find out how many room are STD. view until DVD declares the rooms into inventory. When the rooms are declared, the blueprints are files with the orange county comptroller. We look at this to find the number of rooms added to the resort. From what is left, there is possibley only 4-6 more STD. view studios left to be added. All we do now is that out of 168 possible studios, that 86 have been declared....

With DVC reservations you will not pay for the dining plan until you check in at the resort. The DDP may be applied to existing ADRs - they will usually ask when you arrive at the restaurant and again when the server comes to your table.
Enjoy!

The Grand Villas are not often available for cash stays through Disney since they are usually reserved by owners at the resort and other DVC members.
The availability of 2BR villas (and 1BRs and Studios) is due to the inventory at DVC resorts available to DRC for cash reservations. This inventory comes from points used by DVC members for other reservation options and from a few other sources...

We stayed at Kidani Dec 3-6. We really didn't know much about Kidani beforehand, but had stayed at Jambo. When we stayed at Jambo, we were given a room near the end of the hall, so we expected a fair bit of walking.

You will LOVE it -we were there over the same time last July -we will be there again June 27 through the 3rd then heading to BLT for a few more days. The pool is very nice, it is quiet -you can get up close and personal with the animals - it is very relaxing especially after a long day at the parks. The cast members feed the animals and they have feed boxes throughout the Savanna so every room ...

Just you and "the man"? Depends on which "sleeping arrangement" you want. OKW will have 2 queens. SSR will have 1 queen and 1 double sleeper sofa.

I can't help with your SoCal questions but just wanted to say we have done transatlantic flights (9hrs) with our DD twice - once at 9mths and again at 15mths so I wouldn't consider 3 1/2 too young!

did you try for BLT? You can walk to the MK from there. If the MK is where you'll spend most of your time, VWL is for you. Easy boat ride over there. They do have 2 pools, and a beach for the kids to play in the sand. You can also rent bikes from there and ride over to Fort Wilderness, which is a nice ride. The BCV or the BWV are a great location for Epcot, and they have the Boardwalk to walk ...

1. If I were to book either an one bedroom or two bedroom villa, standard view, does anyone know which views this would be?
A standard villa at Jambo House (the original AKL) would have a pool view. A standard villa at Kidani Village would have either a parking lot, 'garden,' or pool view.
2. At the models at SSR, the model had a extra bathroom, I think near the entrance near the ...

We are here now and LOVING it!!!! I have a day by day trip report going on the DVC Mousecellaneous board.
There is plenty to do and although the weather has been a bit on the chilly side, all but one day has been sunny and bright.
As there are mainly 2 BR units, I would say that getting one should be fairly do-able. We needed a 1 BR and got it with ease at the 7 month mark....

This thread of the resorts board has lots of information about WL/VWL.
As far as views - mostly they are of trees. There are a few that might have a view of the pool and some have a peek of the lake.
Enjoy your stay! The Lodge is my favorite place at WDW!!
