I'll keep ya all posted on the moving progress. I was offered to rent a farmhouse by my employer's (they are a potato grower) landlord at a rent discount if I put the time and effort into painting and cleaning the house. It would be a non original configuration and it would make the firearm very much less desirable to a collector and the value would drop dramatically. On the other hand it would not affect C&R eligibility. In order to qualify as a C&R it must be at least 50 years old. So drilling and tapping will not affect it's eligibility, as drilling and tapping will not change the age of the rifle.
