I considered being somewhat "brutal" in my reply, but the tryptophan was starting to kick in...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz! Happy Thanksgiving 1c! Remember...the average response time to a 911 call is 4 minutes. The response time of a .357 magnum is 1400 feet-per-second.

World is just speculation on my part, no basis in fact. I heard about the Aetna layoffs from one of their competitors. expect a lot of shakeups over the next 18 months or so regardless of what happens in DC. The doctor is in. Five cents please.

I don't know what to tell you. Most of my friends ARE liberals and all of them work or, if retired, used to, and on the whole, I never heard much begrudging.

In reply to: but study after study shows that Medicare continues to deliver overall services for about 15% less than the private sector insurance. Wow!!! What a surprise. Seeing that Medicare reimburses at about 81 cents for every dollar of the private sector reimbursement, they should deliver the services for less. Medicaid reimbursements are even lower than that.

A few were written in 2008 b/c the rates were so dang low and they were by request only. Word of mouth spread etc. and more calls came in. That's an interesting concept about World buying them. That would work just fine. Aetna had a huge layoff last year AND just announced another. Insider acquaintence I have keeps me informed...but nobody is supposed to know about the latest cuts yet. Shhh... Follow your dreams...except the one where...

I find it interesting that even studies performed by CAHI (Council for Affordable Health Insurance), which is principally engaged in protecting the private insurance industry, estimates Medicare administrative costs at under 5% while private insurance costs run anywhere from 6% plus to over 16%. A 2006 CBO report showed that Medicare Advantage Plans spent just over 83% of their funds on medical delivery, with about 10% going to non-medical...

Without reading the fine print, if it covers all outpatient (office visits/lab/xray/MRI/CT Scan/etc) for illness or accident up to $2500 with no deductible, then it sounds well worth it for $13. Sounds a little too good to be true to me to be honest.

I have never met a Liberal that did not begrudge putting in a days work to EARN something. It never ceases to amaze me how dirt poor foreigners come to this country, get an education and build wealth, while Americans who have lived here for generations cling to their dirt poor ghettos and trailer parks waiting on the Govt to give them something. I am by no means wealthy, but what little I came because I got a job and went to work, and THEN, i...

If you're going through financial hardships that may give you reason to fabricate a loss like this. Not saying you did, just answering your questions about the company's motivation. Actually, I thought your post was going to be about something else- your policy's limitation for business personal property.

My sentiments exactly. My daughter is a tenth grader this year and has fallen in love with Chemistry. She expressed interest about possibly becoming a doctor. I have compared their auto rates over many years and my State Farm always beat them. Amica recently quoted me a rate beating State Farm so I switched. Don't know about homeowner rates. I have stated before that I believe the military exclusivity is a gimmick since non dependent family members are also eligible.

I can't say anything one way or the other about the Cigna DHMO. more familiar with Humana DHMO. Supplementing the high deductible with the GAP would not conflict with the HSA. You don't necessarily have to use the HSA funds for the deductible. Your HSA funds could very well be used to pay for medical expenses other than a deductible, i.e. eye care, dental, co-pays, ER co-pays, ambulance...etc. It is your account, and you decide where the HSA funds go. You should ask yourself first: Do I want to destroy the relationship with neighbor by sueing her? What evidence do I have? Is my expert credible? What reliable sources do I have that support my claim (for example take it to Carmax for an appraisal) ? Often when you drop the "legal" bomb they will stop working / talking. You might have lost your battle. --- John ...
