try to steer you wrong. Most of us who have been here have seen it all. The spouse who gets caught up with someone and loses their good credit because the other person is not so responsible. I know, it only happens to the other guy, but we try to warn. Also, we are pretty quick here, you said one of the reasons he has such bad credit is because he was emancipated at 17 and didn't pay, then you said, someone stole his identity five years...

Get a part time job and throw all the money you make at the debt. Since you don't have any bills to pay you should be able to knock it out in mo time. But you are going to have to pay it. Trying to blame your brother on it should have been done 18yrs ago

That's a tough one, and I was originally envisioning larger dogs. You need to talk to your wife about which option she feels she would like. Are the dogs more yours, hers or both of yours? I think I am leaning towards the sending to your friends. Life in the garage for 3 older little dogs won't be that great and they will wonder why they were banished and being punished. They will adapt to your friend -- especially if they are...

If you already have this judgment, I don't know what you have to defend against? They are probably trying to go thru the courts to get you to provide your bank account, income source, and assets. If you have none, then there's nothing for them to take. Judgments don't just go away. The are good for a very long time and can be renewed. Sounds like the person who owns the judgment, or maybe the heirs, are putting a push on to try...

In reply to: what can I do?? Try to work out a payment plan with them. I think your wife would be very proud of you taking personal responsibility for your actions, if you know what I mean. ;) Good luck to you! -Dave

I think you did pretty good skating on them for 18 years, maybe now that you are straight, they want their money. They got the judgment, you never paid, may be time to pay up. BTW, I doubt seriously anyone "bought" this judgment, it stand on it's own with the person who brought the judgment, they or their heirs caught up to you and hired someone to collect. They ...

In December, 1996, I ran into Al Lewis ( Grandpa Munster) in the lobby of the Hotel Nacional in Havana, Cuba. We both had some time on our hands, so we enjoyed a couple of cigars together and talked about being New Yorkers, Howard Stern, and why the heck the other was in Cuba.

that his bad credit will destroy yours, but you may want to think if he will eventually destroy you. People get bad credit generally from overspending and not manning up and paying the bills, and unless you have seen a marked change, but apaprently not, since he has not bothered to clean up his own credit. I see you two butting heads, because it's possible he will...

Some credit card companies will work with you and put you on some sort of temporary hardship program. Others will just expect the regular payment no matter what.

Personally, the way I see it, if she's the one borrowing the money, then the money is hers. No one is entitled to having their parent borrow money for them. Yes, what she's doing is dishonest (I don't know if it's illegal). But she could have been honest and just never borrowed the money to begin with and your friend is in the same position. In my opinion, the ...

Thyme is the secret ingredient to my chicken casserole LOL. I had an aunt who didn't cook chicken without adding some tarragon. Whenever I smell tarragon I immediately think of her. I don't have any particular rules of thumb (and I'm sure there are plenty out there) - but it's largely a cultural and personal taste thing. For instance, I'm fairly certain in my ...

In reply to: A rural bar (on a state highway, however ) has been up for sale for three years. ( They're asking 200K ) The bar has been for sale this long and is still on the market.
