I agree 100% with the OP. Mfg. homes and mobile homes go down in value. They are homes on wheels. Banks are in the right and considering these homes a huge risk. ------------ John Galt sank his ship and went down with his entire crew.

I just pulled these number out of no where, I wanted to illustrate better what I think the OP was trying to say, that is all.

Have many 70 pounders to deliver? I find your insurance rates to be exhorbitant.

70 pounds is our limit. I do not know about the insurance rates, I haven't really shipped anything that I needed to worry about. I can understand how that could be a major thing for a company or someone who does a lot of e-bay. Thats where you would have to make choices. We are still a great value.

Mine is of the mobile home variety. However, the axles were removed and it is sitting on a permanent foundation. We also went through the legal work to have it made into real property, but that does not matter to banks, it seems.

Also look at the resale value of both vehicles, Honda is probably double of any of the domestics.

I understand the ads... give me a break. It sounds like buying a car from a no haggle dealer... depending on your negotiation skills you may do better haggling somewhere else. I assume there must be a break-point between flat rate shipping versus me putting the stuff (5 pounds for example) in "my own box" and paying based on "weight and distance". Count my wife and I as the seemingly small number of fans of the U.S. Postal Service. I think the U.S. Post Office is still one of the least expensive and most realiable in the world. We're big, big fans of the flat rate boxes and envelopes. We stuff them to the max and get great value for the dollar. Can't think of many instances we're metered mailing would have saved money. We find the staff at our small town P.O. helpful,...

I like your post. We generally use the Post Office... not sure it is the cheapest but they have lots of locations and the price is consistent. I dislike UPS, do to the different rates depending on where you drop off the package. Too complicated for folks who ship only at Christmas and some birthdays. Question: From a price standpoint, how does the flat rate...

Pretty good run down there critic... I would like to quibble on a couple of points. 1. While it is true that GSM is about the only thing that makes sense for offshore travel, neither T-mobile or AT&T really cut mustard. Each has been known to offer true "world band" phones, but trying to use either prepaid service offshore does not compute. Traveller should ...

GM (ugly boats, they tried to sell as crossovers, LOL) and Ford (failed design wise Freestar) have stopped making minivans. Chrysler is the only "domestic" left. "People need to be aware that there are real drawbacks to buying one of these homes." _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ While I agree with some of the points you are making, would not the huge offset to the disadvantages be, the INITIAL price at which you were able to purchase it compared to the price of a standard house?

It is getting pretty bad. I thought I heard Clark talking the other day about how to get more use out of carbon paper and how to extend the life of your 8-track tape player. He ended the segment with a few of his thoughts about how someday, every home in America will have a telephone. Some of his material is getting a little stale....a little like having leftover ...

Skeptic, not denier. The burden of proof is on the group that wants to substantially limit our life, liberty, and property through force. Not only has the standard of proof not been met it is not even close. No I have never taken a dollar from any corporation for my views. After examining the majority of the evidence I at least have come to the conclusion that more...

The current administration has pulled the plug on Yucca Mountain after the country has spent billions on it's construction as a depository for nuclear waste. So I guess, nuclear energy is not one of the things that the current administration thinks should be pursued - Iran can; we can't! High Price Nuclear Waste Do you have a BIG backyard?...

Not to be too harsh, but would $150,000 of insurance money changed anything, or $500,000, or $5,000,000 ??? Sure your financial losses due to losing your job would have been easier, but would it really have made things better?

I think Clark is right and should talk more about high taxes and government waste. Clarks slogan is "Save more, spend less and avoid rip-offs", not support deadbeats who don't want to provide for themselves or their family.

children do not need life insurance. If you are concerned about funeral cost, get a rider on your own term life policy. No whole life (like Gerber is selling) ------------ John Galt sank his ship and went down with his entire crew.
