Grease for Countershaft and Axle?
Published (2009-12-02 11:09:00)
Don - Here's my .02: I picked up two tubs are the local auto parts chain (Napa, Autozone, Carquest, etc.). One is high temp disc wheel bearing grease - I use that for the axles and steering head bearings. The other is a waterproof grease, which I use for the swingarm bearings. When I reinstall my rear wheel, I lube the axle with a nice coat of the high temp stuff. I think each tub was at most $8 each. The "tub" is approx...

Water Pump Seal Replacement Gone...

I did not get to see the bike's original impeller, as it was replaced under warranty. The one shown in the photos is the first replacement shaft/impeller I purchased and installed myself. On my third now and it's coal black, as you described. The part number from both sets I've purchased matches the one you posted: 11512343451.

Ok- and "sorry"- Honestly!! I just believed the impeller color was changed when the "new" set was introduced. Both the one I have installed now and the spare I have are green... DAMN!!!!!

Your problems may be caused by the fact that your spark plug caps are not NGK. I have put NGK XD05F (102°) caps on three Classic F650s with (four different) Acerbis tanks and never noticed any issue with them touching the tank. Are you pushing the NGK caps down on to the spark plugs until they are fully seated?

Frist, the instructions are on the bottle. With its small tank, a mc would require less than a full bottle. It's recommended that you change the engine oil after running through that tank of gas. I would not use Techron or Sea Foam as a preventive measure, but I have read reports of it being very effective after getting a tank of bad gas. Somewhere in the IBMWR archives, there is a great description of how a rider on a K-bike treated this...

I'd do it! I would like to compare the two kits, not only the shaft/impeller but the seals as well.

The source I used a few years ago was an ILCO blank obtained at a local Hardware store chain under the numbers X140 VL8 . This is a blank used on the older Volvo cars . They were able to cut a key for me at low cost. It did not work properly the first time but the 2nd try was successful. There is an FAQ on this subject also.

Where is the coolant leaking from? The weep hole is pretty small to distributing the amount of coolant you're talking about. When's the last time you replaced the o-ring on the impeller cover? Or the washer on the drain bolt? Just the first couple things that came to mind.

Never use Loctite on plastic, like plastic body parts or Nyloc nuts. Loctite attacks the plastic. NEVER use Loctite on Nylocs. Just sayin'.

I dont remember at what side the negative terminal is on the OEM battery BUT- if its on the left side looking forward it could be the black hose that is connected to the top of the oiltank- . The size a tiny bit bigger than the battery drain tube.

Wiring diagrams are in the FAQs: http://faq.f650.com/GSFAQs/Documentatio ... cal%20Docs Do your turn signals, brake light, ... work, or are they dead too? Then it might be the load relief relay or the wire coming from the starter relay (see diagram I ). It's one of the two small black relays next to the big green one, probably the one in the middle.

I think you will have much less trouble with the stock setup than you will with the plastic woven in. Side winds are going to be a big factor and my guess is that you'll be unweaving pretty quickly.

Am I "mad"....no one answered you yet??? The "oil" on your dipstick IS a emulgation (mix) of oil and water!! If it was JUST on the oil tank lid (cap?) it could be "almost" normal- NOT like that on the dipstick. You need to do the waterpump seal and axle exchange! ------------- You ordered the right parts. In a perfect world you could or even should change the banjo sealings (copper washers) but ...

Check the FAQ's & YouTube for changing motorcycle tires. There are really some good videos on UTube to lead you through the process - it's not brain surgery, just need some basic mechanical skills. As for where to get tire there are websites - if you know exactly what you want or retail motorcycle shops. What I have done is check out tires at the shops then check the web for pricing to know what...

This one wasn't even on my list. I bought a set of Fastway Evolution II F5 Footpegs, the web site says these pegs fit all BMW GS models, 650 to 1200 through 2009 but of course they don't mention anything about them fitting the Funduro and inquires to Pro Billet went unanswered. I do know of at least one inmate who made the F3's fit so I felt safe in knowing I could probably make these work. ...
