Sean - I would suggest you take a look through the "competition" forum - there are many, many threads discussing this exact topic, and several references that talk about how to swap brake pads for street/track. One of these threads was just in the last week or so. Here's one to get you started... Help buying brake pads, original or not? What else? brad

... now why would i drive to NJ to get an oil change? One huge disappointment I have with MA and Boston area is that every dealer I had "pleasure" visiting so far makes me not want to come back again.

I don't know how to fix your problem but running the engine lean for a length of time will eventually burn holes in your pistons from too much heat.

Well I've confirmed that there is an oil leak, only problem is I'm not sure what the part is called. It's the part that bolts to the front of the engine and has the oil pressure piston. I believe it's called an oil feed regulator. I was doing an oil change the other day and noticed a suspect leak, so I removed the rear under panel and sprayed the area with dish soap and water, then just ...

Does anybody know how to open the rear lid if the remote release doesn't work? I can hear the motor actuating, but the lid doesn't pop open. I see in the Service Manual that there's a cable - has anybody tried to release their rear lid manually?

Yeah I saw that thread. It does not answer my question. Mann, Mahle, and so on... fine. But I want to know if anyone tried other brands. I like Bob Is The Oil Guy site, bit I choose not to mention the brand of my little car, since that causes way to much attention. So I have to ask here.

Hi Helo Driver, good article, thanks. One daft question though, I have bought the filter, housing, O ring etc., but am not sure about location of the O ring on the filter housing. The ring seems to fit into a groove about 1/4 inch above the flange of the housing, below where the thread stops, which would indicate to me that the ring then sits against the chamfered edge in the hole in the sump ...

" I have the "service due" display. I called the dealer, spoke to the service manager, they have my car's information since I had the oil changed there last April 08 at 4600 miles. The service manager called back to say I'm due for a 2 year service (my Cayman has 8100 miles). O.K. that sounds about right? 2 year service for a 2007 Cayman sold in February 2007.
