It is with great pleasure MVP Track Time welcomes Jaime Goffaux to the MVP family. Ordering a track-ready car
Published (2008-11-27 01:32:00)
I'm in the lucky situation of being able to order my '09 Cayman S as the best track car possible, with a few compromises for regular street duty. I'll be using it as a daily driver in the warmer months, and intend to track the car 6-10 times next year. I'm coming from an E60 M5, a big heavy boat that has help up amazingly well against Porsche's on the track. I'd like to hear from people that have good Cayman...

Chassis Harness Mounts
Published (2008-11-27 02:01:00)
Search Rennlist. About a year ago there was a thread in the Racing section dealing with properly designing and installing a safety system. We specifically discussed that all mounting points for harnesses should be independent of the seat. I believe Rennline man (he is from one of the upstate NY regions) was a significant poster.

Free set Tires

Sounds like a good deal if you keep the car for a while on the PS2 replacement plan. As mentioned above the Cups are very good for track use IMO though not the greatest for autocross. However, if the set you won must be Michelins I would go for the Cups as they are better for autocross than the PS2's unless it is cold and wet.

By now we all know there's plenty of 'corporate knowledge' (or whatever the forum know-how term is) that the ATB is a good investment for 3.4s out there, twice so if track-days are a fixture in the calendar. I was wondering if anyone of the lesser non-S pedigree had bothered to fit one, whether it made much difference and how they would rate it. Granted, the 2.7 isn't exactly a rocket-...

Well, I know the Cayman S isn't the car to by for drag racing but I just wanted to see what it could do. So I went to the track tonight for the second time ever and here's how it went: 1st run...13.0003@109.27 2nd run...13.003@109.52 3rd run...12.91@109.52 with a 1.96 60ft which was my best of the night. As far as mods go I have a Evo intake, Fabspeed headers w/cats, and Borla...

You may want to check out how the harnesses are mounted in a factory GT3 Cup car. Since the tub is nearly identical this is likely the best guide. I am sorry I do not have a picture of each of the mount points, but maybe someone can provide. Alternately, you could stop by your local (?) race prep shop and take a look. Cheers

When it comes to making suspension changes, be very careful. There are few people to trust regarding racing suspension dynamics. I originally made changes to my Cayman S without expert input and regret my mistakes. The changes I made were not an improvement and created additional handling problems on and off the track. I finally found a professional who understands racing suspension ...
