Wild Edibles
Published (2009-12-12 14:08:00)
QUOTE (Art Davis @ Dec 12 2009, 11:19 AM) Back in the seventies, a guy named Ewell Gibbon (I think tha is the spelling) wrote a book called "Stalking the Wild Asparagus." It was kind a bible for most of us folks in a certain age bracket. He discusses what wild things are edible and how to find them. The unfortunate fact is that most wild things are either tough, bitter, or hard to convert to edible form....

Campgrounds require rabies shots?
Published (2009-12-13 16:00:00)
QUOTE (Patt @ Dec 13 2009, 10:12 AM) I can give you only one incident as far as cats in a campground and I love my cats and have always had one. Once when camping at Palo Duro Canyon, my son, who was 10 at the time, saw a cat in the bushes and tried to pet it. The cat bit him on his hand, just about the time the camp host came by and saw the incident. He said the cat was a stray that someone had left and that they would have...

How do I get a club directory?
Published (2009-12-12 11:38:00)
The directory will come to you in an email. You can copy and paste it into your own word processing file and save it to a disk or memory stick. No expense involved. Eileen

Does sway bar help emergency...
Published (2009-12-11 09:40:00)
I do use a WDH and it is adjusted according to the factory directions. I also read the literature about loosening the sway tension when driving in slick conditions. I just didnt think about it at the time until it almost bit me. I must also admit that I seldom get out and loosen the sway bar when backing since I go out of my way not to jackknife the trailer. Of course, if it did look like I would be putting my sway control in a bind I would...

RV length
Published (2009-12-12 12:07:00)
Thanks for the good reminders, Don in OKC. Simply gaining the experience to easily back a Casita into a slightly hard-to-back-into spot that's perfect for our 17-16-13-footers gets us quiet, convenient and/or scenic sites. Several times I have heard the host say, "We've got a really good spot if you can get into it." Mike

I hope to once I get more pictures and get the time to work on it. Blair QUOTE (Airstream @ Dec 6 2009, 07:42 PM) More clothes worn compared to last year's pics but just as many smiles. Looks like everyone had a good time. Thanks for sharing! Will there be a slideshow with background music as before?

Nice. I would like to have one like that in the kitched. It would make dishes and filling pans a lot easier. Dave

We used to go sledding in Red River NM. We did not pull our Casita up there but went with a group that rented a bunch of cabins. A friend of ours stayed a campground next to the sled hill. I don't know the name of the campground, but if you call the chamber of commerce they might can tell you. The last time we went, which was about 5 years ago, we were told that they were thinking of ...

Good question and one that I thought about too. I've seen some campgrounds define trailer length as the combined length of the tow vehicle and trailer while others are silent about it. It would be good to know the standard definition though.

Neat idea! I my try that when the weather gets a little warmer. Any thoughts about how to store cables and chargers (ie cells phones, PDA's, camera, computer, speaker cables). Clinton

QUOTE (Maggieairstream @ Dec 9 2009, 12:22 AM) I was looking on the Florida state campgrounds site and one of the campgrounds said campers must show proof of their pets having had up-to-date rabies shots. If I had a dog, I would understand having rabies vaccination to protect other people at the campground and I would vaccinate my dog. But I have two cats who are never outside. ...

I don't think of myself as a minimalist because I own a Casita. I might think that way if I were planning to full-time in it, but there aren't many of us who do. I bought my Casita because it tows easily behind my vehicle, uses less fuel to pull and because I can handle it by myself. The only time I've seen Casitans eating off the bushes was at the Oregon rally where the berry bushes ...

Ted, they will be reducing the discount from 50% to 10%, you will have to pay 40% MORE to camp, not less. It is a bad move, it will cost you and anyone who has a card more to camp. Not less. It is not a reducion of the camping fee but will increase it. Yes, I am NOT for them to increase the cost to the card holders. I do not believe you are either. You would not be getting more in ...

First of all, I'm really sorry for the accident that you experienced. It's good to hear though that you and your wife escaped injury. I don't know if having the sway bar would've helped in your situation. It may have actually made things worse based on some of my reading of friction type sway bars. Your experience was one of my greatest concerns when shopping for a hitch. I eventually ...

Great photo. You must have been there on a dry day. We plowed through the mud last July to get there. Then spent an hour at an Oakley carwash. Still took at lot of Kansas with us to South Dakota. http://s293.photobucket.com/albums/mm41/to...=scan 001001.jpg

Ted, When we camp in the RMNP in winter, we bring water in jugs from home. I heat water for washing and toss it out in the fire ring. We use the latrines, and use disposable wipes or gel to clean our hands. There is no water in any holding tanks, only pink stuff. Susan

Sure don't remember the site numbers when we were there in 2006 but you'll probably be happy with any of them . Seemed like they were spaced out real well. We were close to the restrooms which was important to us since we were a party of 7 (5 grandkids).
