You're lucky to have private medical cover. I didn't actually have any but paid the costs anyway as it was worth it rather than having to wait weeks and weeks, plus the local private hospital is very nice. I spent £1600 altogether although I did get an ultrasound and a laparoscopy done on the nhs.At the end of the day i had been off work for a while and would have gone down to half pay if i hadn't got sorted so it was...

1st Cystistat Instill
Published (2009-12-29 13:33:00)
I will be near enough pain free for a few days and then my symptoms will return to 'normal'. I am intending to keep the instills going for the time being or until the nurse/uro suggests otherwise. I have one every 6 weeks at the moment but if I wanted them more regular I could reuqest that.

thank you hansel , its so reassuring to hear from someone that understands the symptoms , exspecialy the odd butterflly feeling , its like your bladder is nervous . I too am lucky enough to have a form of private cover that provides me with £1,500 for tests and diagnostic consultation, so hopefully that should cover urology checks if the gynie ones show nothing. Will look up the medication that you mention as it will be handy to go in armed....

Hi all, I began cystistat instills in approx May this year + I must be one of the lucky ones. At first I had them weekly for 4 weeks then monthly. I am so lucky as I have a fantastic nurse who really knows her stuff about IC. I am due for another instill in a couple of weeks but not sure if I can carry on with it as I have just found out I am pregnant! I will still go + just see what she...

Hi. Volvodynia is very uncomfortable.I find it is very closely linked to I.C.Since I have adopted a low acid, wheat and gluten free diet I have noticed a great improvement. I am going through an acupuncture course of treatment also. The anaesthetist is very supportive of the efforts I am making of helping my-self. The only medication I take are natural products eg: Hypericum 30,Quercertin,Aloe Vera. glucosamine with chrondroitin ,potassium...

Sorry to hear you're in such pain, and that (as per) you're not getting much help from the medical profession right about now. Have you tried the IC diet? Do you know If what you eat triggers you?

Hello Sorry to hear that you have been having problems. My suggestion would be to ask to be referred to a urologist. I say this because I was referred to a urogynaecologist in the first instance, who was so patronising he could not see past his own ego to see the cause of my problems (apologies for the cynicism!). I was then referred to a urologist. I gave the same information and history and he immediately knew what was wrong and...

Hi Louis Congratulations on your news. Thanks for replying to my email. I am still counting down the days help. Your email was reassuring but some of the others bless them, i felt unnerved me a bit. Will just have to be philosophical about it. Kind regards, Jackie H. Happy new year.

Hi, My name is Sarah and I am a midwife in Leicester.
I have just been diagnosed with IC after 2 years of symptoms. I also have endometriosis.
My main problems at the moment are frequency, feeling like I need to go all the time and pain in my bladder with spasms. I am only taking painkillers at the moment as I am waiting for a uro appointment.
I had never heard of IC until I looked up...

Hi Lex, It does sound like you may have IC.The symptons seem to vary from person to person.Do you find when you drink tea, coffee, citrus, and tomatoes etc that your symptons are worse? The treatments seem to vary as well.I have had IC for about 5yrs and recently I have had great relief from an antihistamine called hydroxyzine, and acupuncture from a lady who specialises in IC.Liz x

Hi Emma, I had the ileal conduit diverstion with stoma (urostomy) about 12 weeks ago. I had the other choices too but after doing alot of research and speaking to others who have had them done I felt my choice was the better one for me. I have to say although the op was "text book" as my consultant said, it was the worst of all surgeries I've had but now I'm on the road to recovery I feel I made...

Hey, I am a male as well and have been dealing with this since 2005 as well! Did they do a hydrodistension with the cystoscopy? If not, usually not bleeding is detected. There are a lot of things to look into 1) do you have IBS, IBD, or abdominal tightness? 2) How are your stress levels? Do you have a very stressful job? Did the symptoms onset with a very stressful time in your life? 3) Have...

Hi JenB Sorry to hear you're having such a bad time at the moment. Do you think your bladder stretch has helped your symptoms at all? If not then discuss this with the consultant and ask what other options he will offer you. As you will find out if you read more on the COB site there are many other treatment options and medications that might help. The treatment of this condition ...

Although some hospitals only allow 4 initial instills, the amount that some hospitals give is 6, followed by one a month for as long as it takes. Thing is If you go to the manufacturers website they say even more then that. They say 12 followed by one every two weeks, slowly dropping down to one a month. Trouble is there doesn't seem to be any guidelines that exist in this country for the use ...

Hi sorry your feeling so rubbish. I think if you have a temperature then you should go to your Drs, it is possible you may have an infection and best to get it checked. When I'm having a bad time my urine feels very warm when it comes out but I'm not sure about having a temperature. Hope things settle soon

Hi, when I first saw a urologist, before i had the results of my biopsy,he said that you dont have to have it confirmed to have IC.He said that the symptons are enough to say that you have IC.I was told eventually that I had a very very small patch which you could hardly see,but I still have all the symptons! I hope that this helps, best wishes ...
