English as an entire language is difficult as fuck due to all of our grammatical rules, but broken English is easy. One of my friends moved here from Honduras and picked up a fairly strong grasp of English within three years. He still has pronunciation issues and I'm definitely not going to try to diagram any of his sentences any time soon, but he's fully capable of communicating in an understandable fashion and his reading...

Blah blah blah. I'm not saying that you would be able to pick up how to write very well or well or all that much. Just that you wouldn't be looking at every single word written on signs and be baffled. And that, if you figured out what PIZZA and STOP and GAS spell, you couldn't start figuring other shit out too.

Possible spoilers for THE READER A major plot point in THE READER is that Kate Winslet is completely illiterate. I don't feel like I'm spoiling anything since I think very special episodes of sitcoms have offered this reveal in a more effective way, but I marked it anyway. So she's totally illiterate. To the point where when she teaches herself to read she starts by figuring out which ...

I'm on the phone with Cinncinnati Bell. Something is wrong with the audio connection as it drops out and sounds downright demonic. I knew waiting on hold was hell. I didn't realize I'm acually calling hell.

As if my life wasn't depressing enough, a 600 pound guy who can't even leave his bed found someone to love him. I might be single, but a bottle of Jameson is more than enough to keep me warm at night. :P

As you may know, fans of hot and spicy food are sometimes referred to as "chileheads" (as in chile peppers). For the uninitiated, no I'm not making that up. Personally, I can't get enough of this stuff. I'm a huge fan of hot food of all kinds: Indian Curries, Buffalo wings, Mexican salsas, Chinese Szechuan dishes, etc. I'll put hot sauce in or on damn near anything, too. And I make a mean ...

This is not a thread for the squeamish. We cope with our cruel and dangerous world through humor. 2) Please try to be as funny as possible. Starting this off: Brute punches playful London girl ...

Due to the spike in craziness recently (I blame the solstice) I figure we could all use some smiles and adorableness to alleviate the situation. It's not a pet thread, as these animals are not owned by me or by anyone else, just a place to put up some adorable pictures to balance out the vitriol that's been running rampant recently. As a bear fan: Bring some smiles people!

Mother of God. I sincerely hope it's a joke. For the sake of mankind. And here's a recipe: Quote: STRAWBERRY SPLASHARITA 1 cup frozen sliced strawberries 1/2 cup good quality tequila 1/4 cup triple sec 1 tbsp fresh SEMEN 2 cups crushed ice Combine all ingredients except semen in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a ...
