Morality Theory. Or, to paraphrase Robin Williams, whoa! morality, what a concept. In order to take a true scientific approach to the nature/meaning/origins of morals we have to assume that "morals" are empirically observable. What exactly is a moral? What does one look like? Is it possible we are only using a bucket term to describe a set of concepts surrounding emotionally-driven ...

I hope you'll enjoy them (my songs that is). I am at the moment quite excited about my new microphone (I'm helping a friend with a CD cover design an' he works at a music store, so he get's a heavy rebate and offered me the mike as compensation, so I've worked for it, I'm closin' in on gettin a sound that satisfies me - you know, we're all our own worst critics). I but wanted to add that...

QUOTE(REveritt @ Nov 7 2008, 15:33) QUOTE(Majora @ Nov 6 2008, 23:35) All this sounds like to me is that you're taking offence at a religious poster inside a church. If all it says is that "there is power in the blood of Jesus" and not "Vote for McCain, he's one of us...one of us..." then it's coincidental. Forget separation of the church and state; this was just a ...

QUOTE(Tony @ Nov 3 2008, 08:14) QUOTE(Dainn @ Nov 2 2008, 10:20) As an American voter I don't give much attention to who the rest of the world believes should be president. ... Also, as most of the world seems to have moved anti-American, ... will represent the US interest, not the rest of the world. It is in any one or any countries interest to listen to both ...

I am thoroughly frustrated with all the political noise coming from religious fundamentalists, and especially during election season. Many churches in the US ignore the law by publicly and illegally endorsing candidates for office. They do this despite their tax-exempt priveleges, and are thereby acting more like Political Action Committees, and should be accountable....

QUOTE(Dologan @ Oct 18 2008, 15:29) Strong candidates would be an overdose of some really trippy and strong shit or jumping from an airplane without a parachute. Why not: "... an overdose of some really trippy and strong shit and jumping from an airplane without a parachute." This post has been edited by mushin : Yesterday, 09:02 PM ...

QUOTE( mushin @ Oct 3 2008, 01:56) I'm afraid that I disagree. While scholars on the subject can undoubtedly parse the term into a thousand distinct pieces, atheism simply means a denial of theism. Thus, if I am not a theist, I am an atheist. To deny that theism is true is to affirm that it is false, and so to believe that God doesn't exist. Atheism as the denial of God's ...

QUOTE( Majora @ Oct 2 2008, 01:48) I didn't word my "teleology"question correctly. What I meant is why can't we, rather than saying outright that "God did it", look at science and then apply God afterwards? Alien keeps on saying that religion and science are two completely different things, and by definition they occupy different fields, except that if God created the universe ...

QUOTE(HitbLade @ Aug 30 2008, 02:08) I don't think these minimum wage workers want to work under such conditions. They don't have any other options. Go ask Cracker, the corporate crime fighting chicken! Him and Micheal Moore showed the lousy conditions Disney workers have to work under. Horrible. Now they can work as a prostitute with great conditions There is the option ...
