Hey, no one's come around to the SL-1200 more than I have. I hope they continue to make at least one or two models. Everything at the $500 level has compromises and while someone might prefer the presentation of a Rega P3, or something else belt driven, the SL-1200 really can't be beat for
ease of use, multiple speed selection and ease of swapping cartridges. And should you be a serious ...

In for a penny...this is really a long senior moment! lots of the damn things (Grace, cheap Audio T's, a Fidelity Research something, Shure, a couple of decent Orthophone's, a Roxan Chorus Black (
search me) and I especially remember a series of Grado Sig 8's, none of which would work or sound right. I drove Grado crazy sending them back. I think I was at fault. I was trying to make them...

Too much to cover in one thread for sure. The P5 is very nice and other than having the lighter
plinth with the aluminum trim, it's the arm that makes the difference. It is cleaner and more dynamic sounding. Other parts and functions are the same. The arms really do make a difference and even the P2 has a better arm than the 1200. Bang for buck would be the P3-24 with a better cartridge. You ...

They used to make soft vinyl covers for printer that would work well on turntables, but the printers are so small nowaday, I am not sure if such covers are still being made. Companies who are charging extra for dustcover =

Don't know the Moody ISOTLC cover Reminds me of some of the Move imports I have where the cover is nothing like the US version. What is the
country of origin? Glad you bought so many, makes me feel "normal." (ha!) Paul

I have an old Thorens TD 160 & I want to upgrade and keep the cost around $1000.00, give or take a couple of hundred. After some research I've come up with the following possibilities offering good performance and value: 1.) Pro-ject RM 5SE w/Sumiko Blue Point 2.) Music Hall MMF-5.1SE W/Goldring GL 2400 3.)
Rega P3-24 w/ELYS 2 or a Dynavector 10X5 Any opinions/advice would be appreciated...

You wanna' replace those feet with brass toes or something else, anyhow. Don't forget to fill the entire insides of the JL-A20 with plasticlay (modelling clay) That was my first table some
30 years ago....I remember it playing superbly with an ADC cartridge once it was filled and the stock feet were bypassed. I always liked the simple looks of the metallic-like grey finish and silver S arm....

More LPs have been available from the standard labels lately. I was wondering about their quality. All too often I may pick-up a new CD of something I like only to find that it is compressed all to hell with the gain pumped up with very limited
dynamic range left. These same CDs sometimes have an LP counterpart and I was wondering if more likely than not, the same damaged master is used to ...

To be honest, I'm more familiar with the
AC-2, but I don't think they were all that different. They were designed by the same fellow (Nakatsuka?) who makes the ZYX and designed the Monster LOMCs, Alpha, Gamma etc. Very fast detailed carts, perhaps a little more full bodied than some of his more modern ones. Low output - .2mV, very low resistance. I think the cantilever was boron. It should be ...
