I hardly listen to Radio really did not think much of the Satellite Radio I had for 3 mos. free when my car was new 3 years back.  It was a no brainer not to continue it.  I'm fine with a portable player.  You can record lossless if you like (either Apple if you have an iPod or WMA if a Zune).

Pandora from my iphone sounds fun. I generally dislike sat radio.  The quality sucks. The thumb drive seems like a good option.  Too bad I bet none will play FLAC.

If you really want to go tweaky, use the Kenwood head unit as a controller, use the dig out of the iPod to feed an...

Thanks, Rollo I'll look, but I also thought there was an older thread on AC dealing with this and I just can't seem to locate it.  I thought some of our discless members may lead the way.

OK, Stupid Question Time
Published (2009-12-31 03:10:00)
Quote from: Bob in St. Louis on 31 Dec 2009, 02:41 AM The interior of a closed up car on a typical midwestern summer day can reach 175 degrees. I'd also question the durability of a Touch/Harddrive combo. They're weren't design for the physical rigors of potholes, vibration, etc... I also wonder how much G-force a HDD can take before the "needle" makes physical contact with the...

Hello all, I decided to move my computer to my listening room and hooked it up to my stereo.  I have all of my CD's ripped to the hdd already in WMA lossless format.  The SC is a Soundblaster X-FI and I have a 3.5mm -> RCA cable connected from the SC to my integrated.  It sounds OK but honestly does not keep up with CD's which are played through a modest OPPO 980H DVD player. Just wondering...

Quote from: Bob in St. Louis on 31 Dec 2009, 02:34 AM Is there a good place to get a decent price on '7', or is it the same eveywhere. Sorry about that question, I'll admit to being totally lazy, there's been no research on my part at all.  Bob There used to be a deal on Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade - $150 for a 3-license pack. Not sure if that is still out there anywhere. Another cheacper way is...

Have not done it. My vehicle has an input for an MP3 player so I have my Zune attached for it so I have lots of storage. In addition, underneath the Nav screen of my vehicle I have slot for a card reader. I have a 2G compact flash. It does just MP3 but at 320pbs it is almost CD quality. Ditto Media Monkey. I'm "all about" the FLAC. But when it comes time to burn one for the car (or a boom box), I'll pop a disc in the drive and open up the Monkey. Great results. Bob

I just downloaded the iPeng app onto my iPhone and it works great controlling my Transporter but it does not display the album art--just shows a square icon where the album art would be shown.
