i posed the same question over on the other side. there's not really an answer because no one has put that much
power down yet. you can be the first.
i'm not trying for more that 275 whp. i think i'll still be in the safe range of it's operational limits. i have no desire to put more than that through fwd.

If you mean just the gauges its
super easy....
4 phillips screws holding on the black gauge pod, pull out a little and unplug the harnesses that connect the pod's controls (hazard, cruise, dimmer, defrost, sunroof, and radio) then pull it out completely.
4 more phillips screws secure the gauge cluster itself, then there will be 3-5 harness plugs behind the cluster...unplug those and ...

I had a similar thing with my 1988 Legend. There was a noise that happened when i was driving, but not at idle. The noise was just like you described and happened every 15-20 seconds for about
