Hey lee, thanks for the comment. If you find a decent angle finder, let me know where you pick one up at. I would imagine harbor frieght would have a decent one, but I haven't gotten around to checking it out yet. BluTooth, I plan on doing an underbed gas tank. I have also read a great deal about using a blazer gas tank from the late 70's early 80's. This would be major funds for me so I havent fully decided yet. While we are on...

The S10 frame is boxed at the front and then channel at the back. Right under the doors is a weld joint for the two. I ground out the weld in about 10 minutes, cut about 5" off of the channel tops and bottoms, left a big "tab" for a lap joint, and slid the two back together. Courtland welded it and then welded all the way around the lap joint. Figured on a few safety bolts "just in case" but never...

I started with a '55 2nd series with a good body and minimal rust in the door bottoms. It was built in Atlanta and spent it's whole life in Georgia til I got it a month or so ago. Also started with new brakes from the master to the wheels and new tires. I also got a strong 235 with three on the tree. That's a lot of hard work I don't have to worry about. Here's my plan in simple stages... Stage One- tune up and total...

Right now my plan is to: Smooth the fire wall.
Repair the dash
Repair floor rust
IFS
SBC and 700r4
Finish installation of rear axle
Mechanical finish (brakes, AC, heat, PS,)
Basically make a nice truck mechanically and the interior but leave the body alone for now.

I bought ONE more... well a half a truck. God poured out his blessings on me and a scrap yard opened up not a quarter mile from my front door. In my searching one day I found a '65 truck with a really good looking bed. As much as a hated to, they took it over to the torches and I cut the whole truck in half. I got the rear half, frame and all. (i cut the axle out too, less weight)...

I use zero rust as a prime and top coated it with chassis black Acrylic Enamel with Hardener. It turned out really nice and seems to be very durable. I'm please with the result.

Are you using the original frame? If so, there are kits available. You could also measure and see if the 67-72 trailing arm assembly/cross member will fit in the original frame for your 47. You could even take it further and splice in the back half of the 67-72 frame.
Just some ideas to kick around. I don't remember where I saw the kits but I do know they are out there, and the kits are for a...
