HM/TA review: Excellence Punta Cana
Published (2008-12-03 08:38:00)
The club isn't worth it in my opinion, its nice to have but overpriced. We had a club room because of an upgrade but didn't have access to the club area, which has food all day long and internet (though the internet worked in my room, so that was kinda nice). The non-club rooms are also nice. The other benefits of the club are kinda gimicky, like the "private area on the beach" which is not enforced at all and is only...

If you just want a quiet, relaxing atmosphere, I also recommend Couples. We were never bored, but didn't do much either. The majority of the HM was spent just floating in the ocean with fruity drinks in hand. We stayed at Couples Sans Souci in Ocho Rios. ~Megan & Wade~ September 19, 2008 [Planning Bio] [Married Bio] [Nest Bio -- updated 12/1]

That, is why we stayed at the Grande. Albeit more expensive the service and extras were much better. We too had heard stories of the Regency (actually friends of ours just came back from there and were very disappointed)so I chose not to book there. beaches vs sandals?
Published (2008-12-01 17:11:00)
At Beaches you'll see Sesame Street everywhere. And lots of screaming babies and toddlers. I would recommend that you stay away unless you have children that will be going with you. DH and I stayed at a Beaches last year in Jamaica because we got a super cheap deal, and although it was nice, it was definitely juvenile. Sandals is much nicer

Im Not about to get my dream...
Published (2008-12-01 14:36:00)
But I just got irritated about the OPs tone. It's not like it's JUST her honeymoon. That kind of attitude about weddings/honeymoon/life tick me off sometimes. Re-reading the OP I actually agree with this. It's all about *my dream honeymoon*, *since I was a little girl*, where *I want to go* -- kinda sucks that the fiance doesn't get much of a say in it. casey & chuck | 06.27.09

We booked our HM!
Published (2008-12-03 20:36:00)
We just got the junior suite partial ocean view and it's right under $5200. We really wanted the swim up suite but it was an extra $480. From the pics all the rooms look really nice. Also we are on a non stop flight through Delta from Cincinnati, which Cincy is one of the most expensive airports to fly out of. We booked through AAA (I have a membership through them) 4-25-09

This same question was posted about 3/4 of the way down this page, it's titled 'Palace Resorts Anyone?' by rsquaredr. She got some good responses, you may want to check there. But, we did just stay at Aventura Spa Palace for our HM in July and it was amazing (PIB), highly recommended! HTH! GL! ♥ 07.05.08 ♥ our perfect day Planning Bio ♥ Married Bio ♥ Nest Bio

My fiance and I are trying to decide on a honeymoon. We were thinking about taking advantage of the sale Sandals is running (45% - 60% off). Do you think that this is a good place for a honeymoon? I heard a rumor that they only have 2 choices of beer - does anyone know if this is true? Is everything really included? If anyone has been there are there any locations that you would recommend ...

DH and I are taking our honeymoon in January because we wanted to wait until it was cold as miserable here before we took off for the sunshine :) We're leaning towards Hawaii. The problem is, neither of us have been so we aren't sure which island is the best to stay on. We are very active people and want to experience everything (not just lying on the beach). We want good food, fun excursions...

I am looking for resorts in Jamaica or Mexico that have special perks to entice people to stay there for a honeymoon. Did any of you receive spa discounts/credits, room upgrades, or anything like that? Detailed information would really help! Thanks!
