Pedigree Question/TICA
Published (2009-12-19 08:43:00)
I found a cat in Wrinkles Ped that is a experimental long hair/seal point. The Reg number starts with 01T. Could this be why her tail is so hairy. There is also a cat with COP. Isnt that for outcrosses? Some of the reg numbers start with B3P,A2N,SPH,COT. Can someone please tell me what they mean. These are all TICA numbers. The other numbers are NCT and BKKV but they are her lines from Belgium. I am trying to learn as much as I can.

Pedigree Question/TICA

Jack (and other Ocicats) have "foreign" backgrounds - Jack has some Europeon lines on his mom's side that are pretty cool (within the past 4-6 generations). I really don't think that a long hair cat in the background makes a tail more fuzzy then normal in a Sphynx.

I would be careful getting an older cat, depending on how old of course. Kittens fit in much better. Have you spoken or emailed with the breeder, or talked about putting down a deposit?

Coefficients of Inbreeding - COI

If you can recommend any breeding software for me, I'd love that. My breeder back east gave me a few options for breeding my girl with COI numbers.. apparently the lower the better while still retaining the traits you desire.

Do I remember correctly that you were planning to start breeding sphynxes at some point? If that's the case, maybe you could start looking for a cat with breeding rights so your neuter-number doesn't get overwhelming? I don't know how soon sphynxes mature/have to be bred, but you would get at least a year(?) or more time to keep showing. I think Wrinkles is adorable!

Pedigree Question/TICA
Published (2009-12-19 19:25:00)
Molly has a hairy tail that is very similar to Bonnie's, just not as thick. Bonnie as I'm sure you know is a Devon Sphynx cross. I just looked at Molly's pedigree, and it shows Devon Rex 2 times in the GGG Grandparents. I'm sure this is where the hairy tail comes from, but its ok with me, I think she's perfect anyway

IMO go to the shows/association where you have the most chances for showing/granding. We only have 2 CFA shows in our area - the rest are over 6 hrs driving time. I can attend at least 5-6 ACFA shows in a season that are within 2-6 or maybe 7 hrs driving time. Guess which association I show more in I can't see spending a lot of money trying to Grand Jack in CFA quickly - will just ...

She is a lovely seal-tortie & white pointed domestic shorthair. Very striking markings. You should think about showing her if she is spayed and not declawed.

Its not a myth - kittens coats are different then adult coats and rarely shed out till they mature. Scottish Folds have a double coat like the British SH's (which are in the background) - therefore they WILL shed most of the year (heavier in the spring).
