If you're going Hayward, then their Tri-Star Energy Solution multispeed pump is a nice way to reduced energy costs when the pool is in filter mode and gives you the added boosts when the waterfall or pool sweep increase the demand. I am a strong proponent of sticking with a single vendor on pump, filter and lighting equipment but when it comes to pool sweeps. Hayward's have been problematic in the past with reliability and I...

Intelliflo VF pump strange issue
Published (2009-12-22 10:01:00)
I have reset pump last night, I have reset Intellitouch, I removed the spa remote wires. I changed pump number from 1 to 2, but it still powers on then off. I'll call again a Pentair support tech to night. Steve

Intelliflo VF pump strange issue

Poolren, I think you are talking about a standard pump, this is a Intelliflo, it needs to be permanently connected to breaker. Did you try the reset button on the Intellitouch? Yes I have seen the spa side cause strange issues with the pumps.

Poolinar's New Pool Build

Thanks Bob. I'm hoping all of this is worth it. I was quite happy with our back 'yard' the way that it was. We had just an awesome canopy of trees and a real natural setting, but my wife and kids have been begging for a pool for years and I finally gave in. Here's some old pictures just to give you an idea of 'the way it was'. The dogwoods in the lower foreground, gone. The 175 year old white oak and many others,...

Houston Area Best Pool Builers
Published (2009-12-21 02:02:00)
If I lived in your area I'd use Backyard Amenities or Rainey pools. These are men I've known for a very long time. 2 other really good pool companies are Pineloch Pools and Gulf Coast Pools, Although I don't know them personally I've heard very good feedback about both of of them. See ya, Kelly

Thanks for the input Scott, whats the comparison of an E-Pump to a Hayward 2Hp 2 Speed pump. Is the E-Pump the new Jandy veritable speed pump? Plants are just their for show from the designer. I plan to have them build up the area there with soil and then plant on top of and behind the low burm. What types of plants do you think would work best with a salt pool, I was thinking some kinds of palms or ferns?? Two of the sleeves will double as...

GarageWorksGuy Pool Build

Very nice design. If it were me, I'd take out the planter next to the sunshelf and just have deck (you can always add your own pot for color). My mother in law had a planter next to the pool like the one in your drawing and she just had it filled in with flagstone because it was always getting a mess in the pool. I'd also consider wrapping your steps all the way around the sunshelf instead of just off of one side. In the first pool I...

Pool fences and HOA's...
Published (2009-12-18 19:05:00)
garageguy --- Karma is a you_know_what. That's pretty rough; sounds like a crappy HOA and Pres. Luckily I don't really have this problem. I've had a trailer in my front driveway for months at time with no issues. Another neighbor has left his mega-huge RV in the driveway while winterizing it. I asked the neighbors before I bought, and it seems to be a very laid back HOA.

Is it cold outside. NOTE: INTELLIFLO "FREEZE" PROTECTION - If the IntelliFlo pump is on due to a freeze condition (not switch on from a relay circuit), and if a freeze speed is set in IntelliTouch, this setting takes priority even if the previous setting is lower than the default circuit speed. If no "freeze" protection is set, the pump will be forced on at the default circuit...

Consider an E-Pump and RayVac. 1 fewer pump. Careful with the plants so close to the pool. Many don't like the salt. 5 Umbrella sleeves seems like a lot, I can't see more than two with this layout. Where are you located? Scott

amy_texas, That's great! Congratulations and good luck with your pool! We enjoyed working on our design every evening until we had it just right (for us) - and now to see that design come to life is amazing. Please tell us when you get going, and love to see pics and drawings whenever you can! Good luck!

With that view I would definitely go for an infinity edge! It looks like it will be nice though.

Are they Ultra Gizmos or the darker blue blow through extentions? Is it possible, yes. Likely? Depends on how the line was blown and how much rain... Too many factors. Too late now. Antifreeze isn't needed if you are sure the line was blown and sealed well. Scott

Sounds like you defeated every safety in the system. You are treading very dangerous ground, very dangerous ground indeed. Scott
