I subscribed to Consumer Reports. I have read reviews on store websites, I have searched here. Just when I think I have it narrowed down I read something that changes my mind. There is so much conflicting info out there and I'm seriously getting a headache. I've got so many different makes and model #s floating around in my mind I can't even rememeber. So, please take pity on me. I know...

My head is spinning -- just like a HE washer -- having spent the last couple of weeks going through posts about FLs vs. TLs. Have always had a TL, am sensitive to mildew smells (in fact, always kept door open on my TL when not in use), will not be good about extra maintenance steps, but want to have the latest technology, in the hope that I don't have to do this again for at least 10 years. ...

Several people on this board highly recommended Gain for it's cleaning power and it's fragrance. I bought some today and washed a load -- it smells like perfume. ugh.

Do you find Charlie's soap a little more harsh than say a store bought detergent that is formulated to not fade clothes?

Wondering if anyone can chime in and tell me if they have experience using homemade laundry detergents in both powder and liquid form, using Castille soaps and their opinion in the long run? Also for those users who've switched to using Charlies Soap, please give your opinions vs. the homemade detergent in the long run. Any idea regarding cost per load for each? I like Dr. Bronners soaps and...

Hi mc58, I have been following your sudsing and tangling issues, and wondered if you found a solution? I am still on the search for a way to increase the water level of my FL Duet washer. I have been noticing that my towels are getting increasingly stiffer and not as white as in the past. I have had my Duet 9600 since Jan this year. I am attribute the stiffness to the fact that the loads ...

I have a Kenmore HE4 gas dryer. The dryer is 2 years old. Friday, the Sears repairman visited my home to conduct the annual maintenance checkup on both my washer and dryer. He pronounced both machines to be in good health. The first load I ran in the dryer, about 2 hours after the repairman left, there is no heat and the clothes are still wet after 40 minutes. Both the repairman and I ran the ...

Just ordered some Charlie's for my new washer.....excited..... but I have an Oxy question. Do you all just throw it inside the washer as the package says or do you put it in your soap dispenser? I've been using it on my old washer for over a year and it immediately got rid of the mold smell so I consider it a miracle product.

Apparently LG has finally incorporated a tub clean feature for the 0642. I had contacted them many times to ask for the tub clean feature (my 0642 purchased Jan 07 doesn't have that feature). LG initially didnt include a tub clean feature w/ the 2277 washer but eventually updated the model to include one AND THEN retrofitted all of the already purchased 2277 washers w/ tub clean feature (free of...

We just bought a new LG frontloading washer & dryer about 3 months ago and although they both work great at first, I noticed my towels were beginning to smell sour after awhile. The longest time they have left in the washer would be half hour to 45 minutes but I've had them in longer in my old washer without getting sour. I can't even use a washcloth once without it smelling sour already. I've...

Since my wife's illness, I'm chief cook, bottle washer and launderer ( if that's a word). What's HE (High Effeciency)?? and does that mean it should be used in front loaders---ours is top load. What is the chemistry that causes the water to turn reddish when adding bleach to soapy water? ( like to add the soap to the water before loading the clothes/towels, etc.,also the bleach.) ...

Has anyone tried using the optional bottom vent on an LG? We are considering an LG 2487 or 2688. A side or bottom vent would work much better for current space. Actually, a side vent would be best but we want a gas dryer and the instruction book seems to indicate that the right side vent can't be used with a gas dryer. That leaves the botom. We are on a raised foundation so we could move ...
