Height of Double Ovens...Okay?...
Published (2009-11-13 14:38:00)
Other things to remember with the idea to keep the cabinet heights in line (To talk about cosmetics/aesthetics for a moment, which seems to be the KDs aim): 1) Because the oven cabinet will be 24" deep and the other wall cabinets are closer to 12", they will look a little different anyway. 2) Variation adds interest! :-) And sometimes balance, which can be more visually pleasing. The oven would look very visually heavy anchoring that...

Old Carrot, it never hurts to ask! If you have the receipt, and talk to the manager, explain about not being able to use the faucet because it won't be compliant when you're ready to install it (but don't volunteer the info about it being discontinued--leave that to the manager). Just ask if you can exchange it for a similar compliant model. If they're into good customer service they very well might say yes!

I chose the SS DuoStrainer instead of the chrome b/c, in my experience, chrome does corrode over time...faster than SS.

Storage behind backsplash ?

I think this is a very clever idea, perfect around the range for spices, etc. I'd love to see more pix of storage behind a backsplash. Song, thx for bringing up this topic. Storage behind a backsplash, who knew?

I have a casement window, actually two, behind an induction cooktop. It was not against code in my state/county. There are no curtains or open flame. The counter is almost 29'' deep. The cooktop is as far forward as manufacturer allowed. The vent is a high cfm. HTH

I remember seeing this topic before. You would not be the first nor the last to have a window behind their cooktop or range. Is it dangerous? I think the fact you are asking means you would design your kitchen in a safe way. Depending on the style of your house, perhaps a 1/2 column mounted on that wall--it would divide the wall for you. Look at this picture I found on google (Googled "half column divider"), notice the column all the way to the left--it is just a half of one. You could run one from the ceiling to the floor.

Looks like you may need to prove to your inspector that they were placed into service before the bill goes into effect. I'd call your local building department and get a senior inspector to give you an interpretation before you go any farther. You're right. I'd be surprised if anyone is going to stop selling product they have already paid for until the 1st. Here is a link that might be ...

Hi pbear, I just looked at mine and if I stand across the room and look for it, I can see a slight puckering in a couple of places at the very top of the doors. I probably never would have noticed it. It's not visible from most angles. Nothing "glaring" or obvious, though. Hmmmm. Maybe there's a slight wave to the doors, but I've never had a stainless steel refrigerator before, and I would ...

There should be bullnose available for the porcelain. As for the tumbled stone, Either start with full tiles at the end of the run, or if you need to cut them, turn the cut edge in, and show the "factory" edge. That works fine as a finish.

No. I say get what you love... provided everything "goes" well together. I love that I'm in my kitchen and I say... oh, I love my soapstone countertops... then in the next breath, my marble, the next my pendant lights, my brick... you get the idea. Again, if everything goes together in a cohesive end result - in YOUR mind - then get what you love. It would be a shame to not choose other ...

My parents put in pocket doors in their kitchen when they redid it. They are great, with one flaw - the yahoo who put them in didn't do it right, and so only one of the two works. The other is stuck in the closed position. It's not terrible in the kitchen where we hardly use that door, but that would AWFUL to get stuck in the bathroom. They don't have locks though. I don't know how that would...

Magnets aren't that common. They aren't at all necessary, although kinda cool to get that cachink feel. I like my Hansgrohe Allegro Gourmet--it comes in stainless and is so dang big it's a wow. Especially in my dinky kitchen...no magnet, none needed.

My heirloom china is in the attic, because my kitchen is not put together and so there is no where for it to go. My mom uses hers whenever we have a large dinner party. 12 people or more, usually. Otherwise, its the regular Corelle. I think I'll use mine the same way, but I've never had a space for a large dinner party... so who knows?

Mine's old, but it was a special gift from me to me, too! It was my finally we bought a house and I want that mixer, lol! It is 300 or 325 hp. Depends on what and how much you're cooking/mixing - lots of bread doughs? Lots of cookie doughs? Might need a stronger one. I use mine for grinding ingredients for Chinese dumplings (get the grinding attachment!) and for grinding turkey breast ...

OMG - of course you are justified in thinking that is not acceptable! It's so hard sometimes when you just want to be done with it. But that is seriously bad. What does the GC say? I've been following your story and was hoping against hope that the architect would man up today. I know it's hard but you are doing all the right things and I would think your case may have become stronger since the CM stopping work is a kind of "proof" that he has not been paid. ROTFL!!! I was thinking that last night! First time I've actually looked at their kitchen because it was so odd. Though I don't think it's quite that high. ...Okay, so it was still there in the machine (around 35min if you want to check it out). The bottom of the MW seems to be about the height of Teri Hatcher's chin (don't know the height of her heels, but she's tall). Then during a ...

I like plan 3 best. Not sure you 'need' a prep sink, either, but they're nice, and I can see that prep sink being useful as a secondary prep area and useful for things like kids doing art projects at the peninsula, washing hands, filling pitchers, etc. There are 2 negatives I see on this plan: The first is true of all the plans, and that is having the fridge right up to the corner ...
