Which stove do you have and where did you get it? My neighbor says if I get a little stove and don't use it all the time all winter he has enough wood for both of us. And he'll take my half dead tree down. Our forecast was for flurries. I'm thankful my plow man came just before I got home so getting in the drive and into the garage went smoothly.

How about small claims court? It seems the installers sold you the wrong sized unit knowing it was inadequate for your needs. You should be willing to pay the difference in price between the unit you have and the unit you need, but no more. You should sue for the correct sized stove. Give it a try, it'll only cost you a few bucks filing fee, but the dealer has to come to court. Maybe suit papers will make him want to resolve the issue....

If you go to the first page of the Fireplaces forum, where the titles of the posts are listed, you can scroll down and find a search box. Do a search on "rainbow" and start reading. You should find something.

Where is air vent?

Thanks, nhyankee. I've got the stove working properly now, but I fear it's just too small for the area I'm trying to heat, considering the fact that the room I'm trying to heat is mostly windows -- and louvered ones at that. We'll see come this Thursday and Friday, as it's supposed to be cloudy. (The room actually gets pretty warm, even in winter, if it's sunny.)

Getting alot of smoke in house...

We have a insert, it was just boiling the smoke out when we opened the door. We have to pull the damper full out, open the door just a crack and wait a few seconds before we can open to load. The house seems like it is always full of smoke, smells so bad! I read something on an older post about a crimped liner causing this issue. Something about when a boot is added. This maybe part of my issue not sure. But this is an insert. Talk to the...

Harmon pc-45/p61a pellet stoves
Published (2009-12-22 13:31:00)
I have two Harman pellet stoves - one a fireplace insert and the other a freestanding unit. The freestanding unit is two years old. The insert is one year old. Both were completely serviced this summer. I am extremely dissatisfied with both. As I write this message I am at home waiting for the dealer service tech to arrive. Neither stove works after burning approximately 1/2 ton of pellets in each. Neither will ignite. A few other comments: -...

Actually, the best thing to do is to buy an airtight wood insert or buy an airtight wood stove and then use the bradley burner (www.bradleyburner.com). The bradley burner helps to burn the pellets BETTER and for less $$ than using a pellet stove...here is a link to the you tube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nekz9NI6B4s.

Almost all wood stove manufacturers have at least one small stove in their product line. Any stove is going to have to be a certain distance - 2 feet is common - away from any flammable surface and a non-flammable hearth will have to be large enough to provide 16 or 18 inches extending out from any door that opens. State and local codes can be even more restrictive. Various types of heat shields can reduce the clearance requirements. The...

The company has a web-site. Here it is: http://local.yahoo.com/info-17881642-smitty-s-chimney-sweepstoves-springfield There is a place on the site where you can post your review of the company----there is already a review there by another unfortunate customer (Read it for yourselves) I would add your experiences there but give him a chance to "Do the right thing" first. My wife's twin sister's husband is diabetic and has...

Avalon and Regency come to mind first as I have had both brands and found no problems with either of them. I currently have the Regency F1100 which is their smallest model. We have it in the living room to supply heat to that end of the house. And here in Vermont it does the job just fine. Even when it goes to minus 30 in January. Total cost start to finish including chimney and installation ...

What do you plan to use it for? Just a cozy fire at times or when you have company, or are you planning to use at as an appliance to heat your living area? Your options are plentiful no matter which way you go. But if you plan on using it as a heater, I would suggest an air tight fireplace that's really a woodstove and is designed to heat, not just look nice.

Kelp I don't know if you've figured this out since this is a somewhat older post but the air control should have been hooked up when you bought it. In the Tribute there is a 'doghouse' located near the front of the stove where the air comes in. In EPA stoves this is actually a pretty small area and will be under the firebricks. I used to have a Hearthstone Phoenix and it was hard to get ...

Hi Im interested in a harmon P61 pellet stove. I live in Nh and have a 13yr old colonial with open concept. I heat with oil and consume some 825 gallons a season. The question I have is, how many tons of pellets will I consume a season? Im told my consumption of oil will be reduced by half. This would be a savings of some $1800($4.50 a gallon today). Well...If I consume anywhere near 8 tons a ...

Is there a pellet stove that doesn't require any electricity? I am going to buy something before next winter! We are having more ice storms rather than snow storms and it takes the power lines down. My longest outage was a week so whatever I buy will (I hope) only be used for a few days each winter unless I choose to start it up. Pellets would certainly be easier to buy and store than wood ...
