My rolling pin Santa
Published (2008-11-28 16:09:00)
Triple Thick sounds like something I could mess things up with real quick. ha Maybe I'd better stick with my spray on sealer. ha The markers I was looking at were in the paint section so I was probably in the wrong area. Maybe need to look over where they have the watercolor pencils and other paint type pens and markers. Thanks for the info. Now if only I can remember it when I'm there next. ha My brain goes to mush as soon as I...

I'm missing you, Anj
Published (2008-11-28 22:20:00)
Hi Anj, Glad you had a nice relaxing turkey day. Isn't it nice to have a day when you can sleep in longer? I remember how I used to look forward to those days, seemed like there was always something needing done or somewhere we had to go! That's one of the wonderful things you discover when you retire--you can sleep in more often! LOL We had a nice day yesterday too. Way too much food, I sent lots home with DIL, and we're eating...

Happy Thanksgiving!
Published (2008-11-28 23:05:00)
We had a nice quiet Thanksgiving. Then I kept the kids for Angel so she could go with her mom out shopping for black Friday. Jesse was sick most of the night with his teeth coming in. So I haven't had much sleep. I did get my tags cut out for the little snowmen. I've had this pattern for awhile but never got around to it. Tomorrow evening we are all going and having a family picture taken. I'm so excited. Have a wonderful night....

Luvs, looks like a wonderful redo for the shutter. I'd like to see a close up also. The red bird on his hat looks good. Take another picture if you change it and post ok?

Peeling (not appealing) toaster
Published (2008-11-27 08:57:00)
Hi all - I stumbled across this site when looking for information on painting my toaster. Has anyone tried this? I've been wanting to paint my toaster like the photos above for quite a while. It is a "cool touch" toaster with plastic on the outside that is not supposed to get hot. I was thinking of using the Plaid paint for plastic but I emailed them and they said the product is not heat resistant and wouldn't advise using...

snowman shutter

How cute, Luvs, was it difficult to paint the shutter? I think it will look really nice on your front porch, as a greeter, maybe hang a welcome sign, that will fill up some of the space. Although, I do like him just the way he is. B

Your painted crafts are just fantastic. I love to paint but don't do as nice a job as you do. How do you paint the beard and mustach on santa. I always have such a problem doing that.....donna

Hope your DH is feeling better now. Know you are really busy with everything right now. I sure miss our morning chats. Be sure you take good care of yourself too, don't want you getting sick either. I've almost got a project done, just need to do the lettering on it. You will notice that I left my least favorite part for last! LOL I got those black Halloween pieces glittered. I'm not ...

I know this was a really old post but I was looking through the gallery at all the projects that have been posted. I thought that this would be a fun project to try and was wondering if there was anything special you did to prepare the soap before you painted it. Did you use regular acrylic paint and did you use a sealer when you finished? This probably wont be the only old post that I bump ...

Had a couple of shutters given to me by my neighbor, so I painted this snowman on one. I want to add a big red bow and some greenery at the top as soon as I pull out my Christmas decorations. Might paint something more at the bottom of the snowman, maybe another bird. I looked at one of Renee Mullin's patterns for inspiration. Plan to display him on my front patio. Luvs

Yall know I love to paint Santas. This is painted on a rolling pin about 7" long. I think I tried to post it before but it didn't scan well so I took a snapshot which turned out so much better.

Although I paint my Santas and Snowmen, the cheeks on the snowmen are not painted. I used red pastel paint and scrubbed in a circular motion. I know some of our ladies took a red pencil - probably Prismacolor, scrubbed it on fine sandpaper and then used a brush to pick up some of the pigment and applied in a circular motion for the cheeks. I find it too difficult to get a good cheek on a ...

Paint is peeling off my cheapo toaster. Thing works fine. As I recall, I bought this toaster because the last toaster, which also worked fine, had gotten ugly and peeling. I'm not going to be entering this in the County Fair or anything. So I took a little sandpaper to it. Then I repainted it white with latex paint. I'll bet that will melt down in the heat, huh? Hmmm... I'm thinking of ...

Finally, I have painted a Lightbulb Santa for myself. I am not going to let this one get away! I purchased a soldering iron in the craft section at Joann's fabric and it is great. I used it to attach the O ring at the top of the bulb. I have posted one before by scanning, this is a photo and it shows up much better. I am also attaching a photo of the longerberger basket I painted. The lady ...

These were blanks I found at Hobby Lobby last year. No pattern, just used a stipple brush to pounce in the snowpeople. Fun to do but she is about 11" long, too big for the tree so what can I do with her?
