Dirty Coffeemaker Sickness!
Published (2008-11-29 00:32:00)
Coffee itself causes some people to have intestinal problems. I can't drink coffee at all, I immediately feel sick, it is just the coffee that doesn't agree with me. Many people are affected like this. Also, food poisoning won't present immediately, it has to be digested and get into your system which takes several hours if not a whole day.

I have Coscto brand dishwasher detergent that I hate so I may put that in the laundy room for soaking whites and then I can move on to better detergent for the dishwasher. Thanks!

Is T.S.P. nasty stuff?
Published (2008-11-28 00:49:00)
I would recommend using gloves when handling any cleaning product. It not just that it may damage the outer skin surface, which many can, but chemicals can enter the body through the skin surface and get into the bloodstream and organs. Reduce the risk. And wear a mask or cloth over the face to prevent breathing in the dust or fumes.

Dirty Coffeemaker Sickness!
Published (2008-11-28 08:04:00)
About 3x's a week I run boiling water through a cycle & afterwards leave top & coffee basket open for the rest of the day. Speaking of nasty you might like to use a small mirror & take a good look at fridge water/ice dispenser. UGH!!! I use Q-tips dipped in bleach to clean mine. Do it on days I do the coffeeemaker so it's not forgotten.

Getting Cigarette Smoke Out of...

You don't need a clothes line to get them outside in the fresh air and sunshine. Just drape them over chairs or whatever. I would try multiple washings. I would add Downy fabric softener to the rinse. I would spray Fabreeze on them. But in the end, sometimes you just can't get odors out of clothing.

I agree with having to use the Shark steam mop a few times before the pads don't come out black! I just mopped the floor this evening after preparing for Thanksgiving. With all of the dripping today and splashes onto the floor, i was amazed that the pads were blacker! One thing I struggle with are streak marks. I have travertine throughout the kitchen, hall and foyer, bathroom and laundry room. It is sealed but I don't think sealants...

Getting Cigarette Smoke Out of...
Published (2008-11-27 00:49:00)
My daughter's friend gave her a lot of clothes. Friend smokes, heavily and all the clothes are saturated in it. So far, my daughter has washed them in detergent, rinsed using a vinegar rinse and (I think) she said a "vodka" rinse?? It didn't work. Are there some TnT ways of getting these clothes smelling fresh. She just can't wear them smelling like smoke. She also used a peroxide wash or rinse. She doesn't have a...

Warning: This Is NASTY! So I make a pot of coffee everyday in my countertop electric coffeemaker. Everyday I run the pot, top and filterbasket through the dishlaundry. I don't however run vinegar, Dip-it or Denturetabs through the machine monthly - maybe more like at solstice's and equinox's or something like that. I thought that would reduce machine performance, but not really understanding ...

Hi. My reno is "done", but the contractors left a HUGE mess. I have to clean everything today so I can move in. I've searched the forums, but can't find all the advice I need. I need suggestions for the following. POLISHED MARBLE FLOORS: I read vinegar is bad bad bad. What to use? EXCESS GROUT: It's all over my subway tile. How do I get rid of this? WOOD FLOORS: I've never had wood...

All of a sudden I have flies in the house. The house has been closed up for some time and the furnace has been running. We don't have the doors open for any other reason than to come in or go out. The flies just suddenly showed up, as soon as I kill one, here comes another. It's bizarre and it's driving me crazy. They are pretty slow and seem to be drawn to lights and windows. They are just...

I've had my home since 1981. Over the years,I have done my best to keep things together, in good repair, clean and pleasant looking. When my dishwasher broke, the repairman plumber recommended using only dry powder dishwasher soap, never liquids or gels. My bathroom tub drain kept clogging. The plumber said I should use only crystal (powder) drain cleaners, never the liquid kind. Hope these tips...

Hi Everyone, I haven't posted on this Forum before but I have been lurking. I thought you all might appreciate this tip if someone hasn't already thought of it. I already use dishwasher detergent to get tea and other stains from my sink and to clean my grout and love it but now I have yet another use for it. I use white washcloths for cleaning my kitchen counters and they inevitably get stained...

I have used the no rinse TSP substitute before, but doesn't seem to do too much. I am cleaning the sticky oil stains off the ceiling for painting.. I have heard of people using real TSP. How well do you have to rinse it.. is it safe for pets? I have 2 cats who needs to tour the "job site" as soon as I leave the area.

I read all about them here and since so many seemed to like them decided to try. I got the Shark steam mop and tried it out yesterday on my kitchen floor. To this point I had tried a sponge mop, floormate, microfiber mop and now the steam mop. I didn't think it did a deep cleaning, but this morning wiped up a spot with a clorox wipe and it came out almost clean instead of black as before. I ...

I have a Hoover Floormate SpinScrub 500 that I use to clean my ceramic tile floors. The owners manual says to use the Hoover brand "Grout Cleaner" for tile floors and the "Floor to Floor" for wood and laminate floors. What would happen if I use the "Floor to Floor" cleaner to my tile floor? Sometimes I see competitor products to the "Floor to Floor" for a lot less $.
