Advice for 3xBEP

RyanSeattle's assessment is spot-on. You are stage I-A, and that typically confers about a 70% chance of having been cured by the I/O alone. 2xBEP will boost those odds at the expense of all the side effects of chemo (both in the short and long runs). Either way, your prognosis is indeed good.

Ditto what Ryan said. You should get copies of your pathology report and all blood and imaging test results.

Hey Spinks, Sorry to read that the 4xEP was so hard on you. It tends to hit folks differently and I guess the 20ish something guys seem to tolerate it a bit better. That being said, the Bleo didn't take because of the smoking. You probably should have gone 4xEP from the beginning. BTW sub 1cm anomolies are not generally considered worrisome but have to be watched. As for the lymphs, I am assuming that they are shrinking regularly on your...

We're all hoping and praying like crazy that Vincent has swollen nodes due to the flu or something else. Glad he is seeing an oncologist tomorrow. I'd be worried about that teratoma as well. Let us know how it goes.

Very interesting. Thanks for the explaination. I just sent slides off to Vaughn at Penn. Do I assume he uses a GU? Would they need to see the whole block to get a complete picture?

So after the further clarifications, your prognosis is pretty good! Get through the chemo, and keep your fingers crossed for few side effects. Best wishes to you throughout.

The problem is that my bone marrow is so beaten down by two years of chemotherapy that my counts just do not recover in a normal amount of time anymore. They either need a lot of time or I need transfusions. I won't hesitate to go find another doctor, if it will do any good. I'd rather just have Dr. Einhorn step in here and tell them to quit treating me like they do people with other types of cancer where delaying is okay.

Hydrocelectomy has been scheduled
Published (2009-12-02 14:38:00)
This is a painful recovery. Went to the ER Friday night to rule our possible torsion, no evidence on US, thank goodness. The pain was so bad I would have gladly agreed to a second I/O. 4 hours back at Penn Urology yesterday, (KVA is a ghost, Diane), and the resident feels that over time the testicle will drop back into normal position. The incision has healed enough to soak in warm baths, and that helps too. The pain has diminished, I'm...

I have been in the situation where the tumor markers start slowing way down. It took a long time for things to get to a comfortable number. Patience is something that becomes increasingly harder to have as the weeks go on. I was on weekly blood draws and every week my wife would have a heart attack waiting for those darn results. Just believe me when I say that, the fact that your husbands ...

Hey Jeff, I am running a bout with a 'swollen lymph' right now as well. Except, mine showed up on a CT scan. I have been at peace with this thought. Its not true medical advice, but comforting none the less.....our lymph nodes swell all the time. Happens to everyone for some reason or another probably several times a year, it just happens that we have had cancer and we have more reason to ...

I would expect a pathology report to state that clearly. However, the NCCN guidelines don't take into account rete testis invasion into their staging scheme. When it comes to staging, the difference between pT1 or pT2 is lymphovascular invasion or extension of the mass to the tunica vaginalis. Rete testis invasion has been linked to risk, but to tell you the truth, I don't know why that has ...

Thanks for the post Carterio. The info you have provided will most certainly help someone going through a similiar situation. I have not had this cancer but my 22 yr. old son is currently battling TC. My son was diagnosed in Aug. 2008 with Embryonal Carcinoma that had spread to his lymph nodes and lung. He never had the lump on his testicle either. It started out as a dull pain and, over the...
