Anyone check expiration dates at...
Published (2009-12-03 08:17:00)
I have to check the expiration dates at the store. I have found too many expired items or those that were to expire within the month. I always make a point of talking to the manager and not just a cashier when I find these items. The excuse I get is that they get the items from the warehouse and the warehouse is shipping out the expired items.

Need advice on what to store in...
Published (2009-11-27 21:19:00)
I use large plastic tubs to store my crockpot and waffle maker. I have smaller plastic container for paper cups and plates and plastic utensils We lose power a lot and it's handy to just grab them from one container all together when it's meal time. We also store juice packs, soda (but it's not as warm as where you are), out of season boots, coolers and picnic stuff. I would certainly try storing paper goods and some cleaning...

I would check dates on certain things at a discount store, but CVS and meds? That just does not seem right to me that they do not track that. I am going to check from now on.

Fun stuff! I love organizing, especially when I have actual places to put stuff, instead of just shoving it in a free nook or cranny.

Very nice!! I'd LOVE to have storage in my laundry room but whomever designed it made that impossible. There's a giant WINDOW, so no stacking the washer/dryer or putting shelves on that wall and the other walls are designed that shelving would prevent you using the washer and dryer. Right now I have the top of the dryer and the window sill to balance the bottles of detergent on and that's it. Jore

I have had to take items back that were expired when I purchased them so I do try to check exp. dates before I add the item to my cart. I have also been known to dig around on the shelf to get the item with the farthest out date. Knowing it will be in my stockpile, I want to be sure I give myself enough time to use it. Of course, I can do this now because I shop while the girls are in school. There was a time when I was lucky to get anything...

I probably would not freeze these. They would be little hockey pucks when defrosted. With Krispie Kreme, you just microwave before you eat and they are nice and soft all over again. I wouldn't think you could micro these....well at least not the chocolate ones. I will be interested to hear if anyone has ever tried it. I use the razors I like and look past the men or women styles. This year most of my deals were for the men's version, last year most of my deals were for the womens deals. My teenaged son won't use the pink razors, but I let that go. I buy unscented deodorant so anyone can grab what they need when they need it. I have also found items in the baby department which are a a much better deal ...

What a great idea. I think I should sit down with my pantry inventory on Sunday nights. Maybe I'll get inspired for the menu for the week. I'm still having a hard time translating my stockpile into meals for the week. I just keep buying and stockpiling...I haven't actually USED much from the stockpile. LOL
