Who cooks in your house?
Published (2009-11-29 17:51:00)
I cook 99% of the time and I do not mind. I like cooking plus it takes longer to explain where everything is, clean up the mess and put everything back in the proper place when he is finished.

Do you cook most of the meals in your house? Or does your SO do most of it? I cook most of the time in our household. DH does grill a LOT though and will cook a meal once a month maybe. But, since I love cooking so much, I don't let him do it too often, but it sure is nice when he does.

I ran out of time, and then just as I got home my brother came over to get some help on some computer stuff...............while I was talking to him, the phone began ringing and it was 9 PM before I got fixing Dh any dinner.......................which was bacon, eggs and toast. Just turned in a super busy last half of the day.

I cook almost all of the meals. When DH helps, it's usually just manning the grill or throwing on something that I've already prepared, marinated, etc. If I'm down and out with an illness, he'll order out or open a can of soup and heat that up, but that's about it.

Question on making turkey broth
Published (2009-11-27 19:09:00)
We used the neck to make a nice broth to add to the drippings to make the gravy. It was super yummy. Normally I would have been totally grossed out and tossed the innards. This year I decided to put them to good use. I'm glad we did!

Thanksgiving leftovers

Rachael Ray had a great looking sheperd's pie with sweet potatoes mashed (or maybe it was squash; it was orange) that looked wonderful but its doubtful anyone in this house besides me would eat it. It didn't have a crust though. Should be able to find it on her site or maybe the food network site.

I use turkey like I would chicken. I just substitute it in casseroles or soups. I have about 1 lb. of meat that I brought home with me and a 16 lb turkey in the freezer to cook yet. So, I'll be interested to see what others do!

Give us a break! Trying to figure out what to do with leftovers. LOL
We usually do ham at Christmas. I am proud of myself that I started baking and freezing this week. I had the time and took advantage of it and have several loaves of breads in the freezer. I am usually not that organized this far in advance.

My DH does most of the cooking at the house. Since I'm the one that started our company I feel that I need to be the one that is most active with it. To keep me from stressing too much DH took over the cooking and the laundry, as well as doing the outside yard stuff, so I focus on the business, GG, and homeschooling. My DD (8) just thinks this is the way it should be, though he is helping her...

Lasagna - mix the sausage with ground beef and brown with diced onion and minced garlic. Then add to your favorite spaghetti sauce and either let it simmer until the flavors are well combined or cool and freeze the meaty sauce in ziplock bags to thaw for a quick spaghetti meal or to make your favorite lasagna recipe. I did this recently and now when I make the huge lasagna for dh's birthday ...
