my virus scan...what's good...

SAS and DrWeb are both one time (rather than real time)scanners, unless you want to get the paid version of SAS. Both go quite deep and take a long time to run. So unless you have a very fast machine I would not try to do anything else when running either of these scanners, but then again cleaning a system should be the priority. In my experience both will find stuff that mainstream 'fast' scanners (like AVG) will miss.

Run Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware again. When asked, at least quarantine the item. A quick glance suggests deleting all the items you've listed is required. "No action taken" will then become "Quarantined and deleted successfully". Liverpool : Capital of Culture 2008 Anfield : Capital of Football since 1892 Iechyd da! John Glannau Mersi, Lloegr.

ISpyNow Fake Security Alert

Hello everyone. I recently had the google redirect virus plus some other not so nice items that also prevented me from updating my AVG (gave me the cannot connect message)-- initially I was running with AVG antivirus and Windows Defender. This weekend I installed Ad-Aware 2008 and StopZilla (have since read a mix of stuff mostly bad re: this product), but after running scans and deleting infected items I am down to a fake security alert box...

Not come across this one (yet), but try MalwareBytes. It seems pretty near the top of the tree in dealing with a whole bunch of unwanteds. I've used it to good effect for some time now... http://www.malwarebytes.org/ ROGER - G0AOZ.

I'm in the same boat here. I just had this ISpyNow security alert pop up on my PC. I went to install malwarebytes, along with several other recommended spyware softwares and it would not allow me to access those sites. Told me it was a valid site but it could not be accessed at this time. From google, it redirected me to imitation sites when I clicked the link. I then downloaded...

Try booting into Safe Mode with Networking and see if you can download, update, and run MalwareBytes and Spybot S&D from there. Cheers.

Our corporation has been using Symantec Antivirus corporate for years with no problems. We've been very happy with it. We have about 55 client PCs and 5 servers. However, I've heard nothing but awful reviews of their latest version, Endpoint Protection 11. Resource hogging and network issues were major problems cited with this latest edition from Symantec. Because of this, I thought it might ...

Recently I noticed that my copy of AVG free wasn't running (missing from the task bar) (gawd knows how long THAT'S been going on!) and when I tried to manually start it, it complained about the configuration and recomended that I perform a repair. I tried to reinstall it with the "repair" option but that failed, so I uninstalled it and reinstalled it. However, after running the upgrades, it ...

I've read past threads on how to diagnose and fix the virus/spyware that causes google search links to redirect to commercial sites. The one I'm infected with also tries to get me to download AntispywareXP. I ran fixwareout. Here's the fixwareout log and post-fixit HijackThis log. I'd appreciate any help you can provide. I have a problem with browsing on my home PC. When clicking on a web site, it is almost as slow as dialup. I have tried using Explorer and using Firefox and both are the same. I suspected a DNS issue, but when I ping a site name it comes back instantly with no delay, and no problems with the ping. I can load up the only game I play (BF2) and it shows me as having a great ping (15ms) to a...
