oops :) "Bear with me," the standard expression, is a request for forbearance or patience. "Bare with me" would be an invitation to undress. So to be crystal clear i actually ment "bear"

Cross Forest Migration
Published (2009-11-08 06:20:00)
Does anyone have any good information or know of any good whitepapers/video training in performing a cross forest migration?  Would be to move Exchange 2003 in AD 2003 to a new domain with Exchange 2007 and AD 2008. I was thinking setting the funcional level of both domains to 2003 and then making a 2-way trust between the domains.  I am trying to find information on steps to performing the cross forest...

Hi i'm running an exchange 2007 server on a small network. today i needed to configure a workstation so that a user could pick up mail from that machine that they've never logged onto before - this usually takes about 1 minute - 2hours later i'm still trying... The workstation runs xp, it's been on all morning and the normal user who uses this machine was in their outlook - so as far as i was concerned it was working fine....

Change Mailbox User password
Published (2009-11-12 05:27:00)
Hi all, I am not that familiar with Exchange 2007.  I have 2 users that need their passwords reset as they have forgotten them and cannot get in.  I was wondering if anybody knew how to either change it via the gui or with the powershell?  These users are not part of Active Directory either, they are stand alone mailboxes. Thanks in advance.

I would guess custom managed folders is your friend here if you have Enterprise CAL's for your users. Neill

Exchange 2000 to 2007
Published (2009-11-13 09:08:00)
I have an Exchange 2000 server that we are finally upgrading.  We will upgrade the server hardware and software. The current server runs our Active Directory, Domain Controller and Exchange 2000 and uses Server 2000. Will I be able to move all these services to the new Server 2003 server, and can I do all this offline and cutover into production when the new server is ready? We are a small company and don't have a lot...

It would probably be better just to go to exchange 2010 since it's released now.

When you send, it goes to the transport hub and then to the mailbox or external.  Set -transportconfig is the right place to set the limit. As the message gets spooled into the transport hub database, I could see where you'd have problems with version buckets and disk.  The hub database is realitivly small and unless you put it somewhere else, it's on the mirror with your system...

I figured out this to prevent it from happening again: Set-TransportConfig -MaxSendSize 15MB But I'd still like to hear how others might have troubleshot the issue. Like I said, if that end user didn't speak up I'd never had known.
