What is the output of the command showmount -e nfs_server_name? Are both machines pingable from both sides? Are you sure its not DNS resolution problem? (use nslookup) Regards, Khalid

Khalid, I have found out the problem.. Sorry it is nothing to do with AIX, but it is to do with the Web Server which had a timeout of 5 minutes.. I have changed it to 1200 secs and this has resolved the issue. Anyway thanks for your help. Cheers KPKIND

Are you sure you are on the latest firmware level? IBM says: http://dow nload.boul der.ibm.co m/ibmdl/pu b/software /server/fi rmware/702 86C4F.html that "A problem was fixed that caused a failure with error code 20EE000B when upgrading to later AIX versions with large boot images. Thanks chgwhat(Tony), for the info. Each Profile has a different scsi card assigned. Lpar1 has Slot_9/U0.1-P2/Z1 and Lpar2 has Slot_10/U0.1-P2/Z3. Am I correct in saying that both disks are attached to the same scsi? I booted off of Lpar1 and ran a prtconf. hdisk0 U0.1-P2/Z1-A8 16 Bit LVD SCSI Disk Drive (146800 MB) hdisk1 U0.1-P2/Z1-AA 16 Bit LVD SCSI Disk Drive (146800 MB)

Multicasting

Right, in case anyone is wondering, the only thing needed is this: route add -net 224.0.0.0 -netmask 240.0.0.0 192.168.225.50 No need to do anything else, it's apparently up to the application to freely use IP addresses in the multicast range. I can ping via multicast now but haven't tested the application.

I have ran into this problem before, what we did to fix the error was to set the ulimit to unlimited and then run the mksysb backup.  The command is ulimit unlimited.  Hope this works out for you.
