Hm, it might be best to just get her a usual birthday present, along with something sentimental- a pciture of you two having fun together from the past? Alternatly, maybe speak to her parents/siblings and see if they know what friends are advised to get for it- they'd know best.

I cried sooooo much at challenge day. It was wierd opening up to strangers. And I found out there is alot of people going through the stuff I'm going through. My friend Derek was there,and I cried into his chest. His heart was beating so fast. It helped calm me down (yeah,i'm strange). It was such a powerful day.
