Just because he likes you does not mean that your smoking does not matter to him, in fact it probably means more to him. If you like him you need to come to some sort of compromisation, if it involves you stopping or even just staying away and not contacting him whilst your high. You just need to talk to him about it and see why it upsets him and see if you can sort it out with him.
