I can think of these scenarios where this might happen: - You have a floppy disk formatted under Win9x in your disk drive. - You booted the machine with a Win98 CD and commenced the installation process. - You are attempting to boot from a hard disk other than your WinXP disk. - You have several partitions on your disk and something changed the active...

I'm pretty sure this is a known issue but the MS support site and the internet have not provided an answer. A couple of computers on our network keep wanting to install the following: Update for Root Certificates [September 2009] (KB931125) Checking our server the release date for this specific update is Sept. 22, 2009. Both PCs are XP Pro with one running IE 7 the other IE 8. ...

I got a HP officejet J3600 and connected it with my phone cable. When I get a phone call the officejet device keeps ringing for 15mins or so (as if a fax is being received). I thought it should only do when a fax is received, not for any phone call. I guess I might not have installed something properly. A quick search on Google or the manual does not reveal anything Any suggestions would...

My XP Pro system won't boot after I installed some applications. It won't boot to safe mode. (After the Windows boot screen it shows a "DOS" list of dll files in System32 and the system hangs there.) I heard of various methods to recover XP Pro but I don't want to lose data or applications. What's the best approach to take?
