In some cases you'll find large files in the \ Windows\Installer folder.
Expected size varies depending on what apps you've installed, but an
average size is around 3-5 Gigabytes. I'd check the folder properties
and see how much content your system's folder contains.

Have 10 machines, virtually all identical, with Windows XP Pro SP3 and
updates as of 31 Oct 09 each with 4GB RAM and 80GB hard drive.
Two machines have had their paging file set to 8192 (min and max
values). I just tried setting another to 8192 and am receiving an
error stating that I can only set it to a max of 4096. After checking

It might. It depends on how skillful the person is that accesses your
PC. Was this XP home or Professional? If it was professional, I
think that the files can be encrypted. Did you have any encryption on

modem question and modem string wanted
Is it ok to have an isa modem and pci modem installed at the same
time?
I have a dual boot system.
98se and xp.
98se and puppy Linux live cd does recognize my ISA modem (cl-md56xx
cirrus logic)
Windows xp does not.
However, xp does recognize the ESS 1868 ISA sound card.

Since the time change on Sunday my WinXP Pro computer shows the right
time in the Windows clock (in the system tray), but programs that use
a function call to get the time from the operating system are 1 hour
ahead. I recall something similar happened the last time the clocks
changed.
Does anyone know of a fix for this?

I have 2 machines, both XPsp3, one has IE6 & WMP10 and one has IE7 & WMP12.

Can someone explain why Micr$oft have not provided an upgrade solution from
XP to Windows 7. If, as the press report, Vista has been an unmitigated
disaster for the company and uptake from XP to Vista has been somewhat poor,
getting upgraded from XP to win 7 as simply as poosible should of been number

I'm in the process of moving an install from one PC to another. If I can
avoid it I'd rather not reinstall everything. I have done a copy of the
boot partition from one of the old disks to one of the new disks. I've
