Seems like Hitachi no longer makes laptop IDE drives and the only other manufacturer I could find was Samsung and it had worse reviews than the WDs. I'd like to have the system in front of me.
You may have a "BIOS Password" set that makes it impossible to get into
the "real" BIOS. [Note, a bug in some BIOS versions of some Toshiba
laptops is that they establish passwords "all by themselves", and the
nature of the bug is such that once this happens .... you have to return
the laptop to Toshiba (that's the official line; unofficially, ...

Microsoft has, at least once, revised the rating program (e.g. a rating
could change (go down) even though nothing else changed).
Also, the rating is a function of what else is going on in the computer
and what other programs (including "background" tasks and services) are
running.
Most likely, your performance has not actually changed, but the overall

Hello,
Laptops seem to no longer come with a recovery CD (or DVD) these days.
I want to make such a CD so I can change the hard drive.
But I don't seem to be able to find the option.
Googling around, I found that you have to go to the control panel, then
"system and maintenance" then select "recovery manger". But I can't
find these particular menus.
