If IE 8 is to blame...why don't I have that problem? Not on Windows XP, not on Windows 7. My Dad (he's 78) doesn't have any trouble with IE 8 either. Not on his desktop and not on his laptop. I wonder why? BTW: I just Bing'ed "flat earth society" and got 8,060,000 hits. Maybe the earth really is flat after all. Hi,
Start Internet Explorer without add-ons by right-clicking the IE icon on the
desktop. Choose Start without add-ons.
or
from Start> Programs> Accessories> System tools> Internet Explorer (no
add-ons)
If the problem goes away, you have an incompatible browser add-on installed.

I have not given the complete picture.
Internet explorer 7 only closes down when I sign into Windows Live Hotmail -
the browser behaves normally with all other web sies.
Leonard - I have run norton antivirus and Superantispyware scans and found
no malicious software.
They may seem like a stupid question but do I need any...

Still didn't help my daily initial 'web page cannot be displayed' error, but
once the diagnosis button does it's thing, google shows every time as the
