Hello entrity, Acer is one of many PCs that are prebuilt, sorry to say that it is not a good thing for three reasons: 1- all prebuilt PCs has some bad Video cards in it, like yours AT 3200 is a low end video card 2- all prebuilt PCs have a low quality Power Supply 3- they are overpriced so now that you have already bought the PC I suggest that you get a good video card and a quality PSU it'll cost you around 180 or 200$ if you just build...

Creating an image and mounting it makes the computer think that the CD is inserted, but it's actually using a file (the CD image) on the hard drive that is an exact replica of the original CD. This won't solve your problem because the game's security check will still get stuck at the same point. See if the game will work on a friend's computer using XP or 98. Hang on for some more replies. Apart from the advice already...

Also, given that you've had the PSU for ages, that makes it all the more likely that it is now failing and producing less power.

Thank you so much for the info. and would a new video card not be enough to play at high res, or get Dragon Age? I was afraid not, because my friend said it was rough on graphics. I'll start saving up to build a gaming PC :) I really appreciate all this help so quickly.

Hi redoshi ,
Unfortunately, your laptop only just fulfills the minimum requirements for this game.
The minimum requirements are often set low so that people with quite bad systems think they will be able to play the game with a nice framerate. However this is just another way for the developers/publishers to gain more money from sales.
The NVIDIA GeForce 8200M G is not a very good ...

Hi and welcome to TSF
Try Completely re-installing punkbuster.
Use Revo Uninstaller which can be downloaded from my sig and uninstall "Punkbuster services".
Then delete all registry and leftover files in bold that relate to Punkbuster when prompted.
Then reboot and download Punkbuster again from here .
Thanks.

Hi and welcome to TSF ,
Are you running Steam as administrator? (Right click "Run as adminitrator")
I would also recommend that you get a new Power Supply.
A 300W is really not good enought to power that system and i would suggest a Corsair 650W.
This one is a good quality Power Supply with a nice price.

Are you using the correct email address? I have several emails and sometimes type in the wrong one for this kind of activation process.
Make sure you've typed in the password correctly and you're not mistaking 1 for L or zero for the letter O, for example.

If you see a red message at the top of the activation page saying " Please enable script in ...

Hi and welcome to TSF,
Your Hardware is good and you should be getting a very nice framerate on COD4 with a high resolution.
So maybe the problem is you Power Supply.
Could you post the brand and wattage of your PSU.
Also the amps on the +12v rail.
Thanks.

Are you using an original bought disk or a backup copy?
Have you tried it on another computer?
Is it a CD or DVD?
Can you see any other inserted disks in Windows Explorer?

The game manual will tell you how to map key functions to the joystick. You can choose whichever buttons you prefer, there's no set way to do it.
You might want to download the trial version (800mb) before buying. It's a very complicated sim if you're not used to flying.

Your computer should be able to run it fine. How fast is your internet connection in kbps when you download? Do you have other programs are running when you view task manager processors? Try running the game when you close all processors except for explorer.exe, rundll32.exe, lsass.exe, services.exe, winlogon.exe, csrss.exe, smss.exe, system, system idle process and all svchost.exe. And ...

Make sure you have the latest Windows Game Live.
http://www.microsoft.com/games/en-US/index.aspx
Installing this will also override all existing Live files (not user settings). Its possible Live might be corrupt and could be casusing the crashes.
Make sure you have the latest Chipset and Audio drivers, you can get them here.
