If they didn't work on the Zune either, then yes, I'd say they are bad.

It is acceptable but a standard 16/18 GA. cord is not advisable. I prefer using ones designed for A/C units. There like 12 GA. or so.

PC restarts only when in Games
Published (2009-11-27 09:52:00)
Ok so I installed the program, but there is no warning just before it restarts, so I played for like 30mins and then took this screenshot. And the for about another 20mins and then it restarted again... The Temps looks fine, im not sure what the Volts should be. But its mostly the VCoreA that goes under 1.00 and then up till 1.25 and thne down again. That fine?

The 12v is the important number spec is 12v +/- 5% or 11.4v-12.6v either extreme is not good and video issues can start around 11.7v at 11.4 I'd say the power supply is failing. You can verify with a digital voltmeter testing a yellow wire on a spare molex connector when the system is loaded.

Your psu may be on the light side for two of the GTX285's but should run them. When under load (ie gaming), each one is going to nearly max out an 18 Amp rail. Have you tried testing with a single card? You might be able to shift loads around so that each graphics card has a rail to itself.

Wondering
Published (2009-11-27 14:55:00)
Actually, if you look at Best Buy or Wal Mart of some place like that you can get better specs on a new rig for not much more than that. What I have done in my shop with some things like that is Part them out on Ebay. I have found you can make more money selling the parts than a whole computer. (I knew you would not like my answer, but that is reality if you run a computer shop)

I would say you are in need of a reformat. Ghost is still a good software but Acronis True Image is much better. and can be done within Windows. If you have a WD-Seagate-Maxtor Hdd. there are free versions.

Trying to copy DVDs and nothing writes and it just locks up the DVD drive. It just keeps running and even if you cancel it won't work. Have to manually shutdown the computer to turn off the DVD drive. Have tried Roxio and Window's DVD maker - Drive will burn CD's. Drives show are most current for DVD drive. CD/DVD is a HL-DT-ST DVDRAM_GSA-H10N ATA Device. Any ideas?

Hi and welcome! That monitor has the standard VGA (D-Sub 15 pin connection). So, you will need a standard VGA monitor cable. This of course, also assumes the 4-year-old eMachine you are connecting it to has a standard VGA interface on it too. Take a look at it, they are usually BLUE in color, there are 15 holes in the connection interface. Thanks!

No. My point is the unit is self contained. If it can't format itself, there isn't anything that you can do. If it's under warranty have it replaced.

Check Task Manager...Processes tab to see what's running (make sure to check the box/button to show processes from all users in the lower left). Double click on the Memory column to bring the highest numbers to the top. Then launch the scanner and get the error. Note what processes are consuming the most memory and let us know what they are.

I only have a single card, not 2 Cards. Yesterday I removed 1 RAM piece and then if it restarts in the game again I would swap it with another one. And it just kept happening, so it looks like the RAM is ok. That is why I will have a look at the Graphics card today. I'll swap my Asus MATRIX GTX285 with my old Asus GTX280 that is in my brother's PC atm. Then I will know if it's the ...

Monitor settings are a personal preference. You need to adjust it to suit you. LCD viewing is also affected by the room lighting.

Wild guess, maybe (you won't like this, but used computers aren't worth much) $250 or in that range.

Short answer is, yes it can be fixed. Sounds like something in the colour drive circuitry of a CRT, or possibly something in the power supply. If this is a CRT type television, be warned , high residual voltages remain inside it even when unplugged from the power source. If you have no experience with CRT's, best to take it to a tech. edit: Do you get this symptom when using all video ...

What do you mean when you say Windows does not recognize the devices? You state that Windows finds the devices and installs the drivers. So what's the problem? Can you print to the printer? Can you examine the contents of the camera in Explorer?

Samsung is always a good choice. I'm using a 22" Acer X223Wbd that I am very pleased with and I don't think you can do any better for $159. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824009 145 Look for at least a 5ms response time and a "true" (not ACM or DC) Contrast Ratio of at least 1000:1.
