Hey all...I have a 2003 Chevy Malibu LS with the 3.1L engine. It has trouble starting after sitting for between 1.5hrs to 6hrs after
cooling down from being hot. No theft lights on the dash, no check engine, it'll just crank and crank and crank and then start. It does always start, but takes a LONG time of cranking.
Here's the list of parts that have been replaced on it:

That's the problem with open diffs. Is
limited slip or posi available?? I agree the locker could ruin something unless it is only used when needed. If you forget to disengage the locker and drive on dry pavement you will ruin something. At least a posi will slip when you are turning (you can hear a clicking sound) preventing damage to the diff.

Hi walldo
Check all your ground connections, make sure all ground connections to the chassy are not loose corroded or broken. Check your fuse box to see if there is a burnt fuse or a shorted
fusible link to the alternator or starter replace as needed. If there is an external rectifier make sure the connections are not loose and it is well grounded.
post back your findings.

Try " very carefully" spray around the intake manifold with a can of carb or injector cleaner to find the vacuum leak I think you have. When found that
idle speed will change noticibly with the intake off the cleaner.I'am sure you already looked at the pcv valve and hose for large leaks. If you've got access to a mechanics stethescope you may be able to trace down the leak by sound. They have also ...

Thank you cardoc, is it behind the
glove box? I thought I would take it out to make sure what I buy is the same as the one thats OEM. I could then give it to my guy for installation. Thanks for working on thanksgiving weekend.
