Knowing Chevy's like I do I'd say check the starter, the battery terminals the starter relay and the starter solenoid

Everthing is built in that alternator. What you describe is very common in Ford alternators and it's usually at fault even though it's charging "almost" normally. As said you can ck fuses and connections but you'll most likely end up replacing it

55 seems like a good place to start. 60 and 66 is a lot of fuel and may be a large part of th idle issue.

The heat gun generates too much heat for the delicate internal windings in the injectors. If there is a shroud that covers the injector plugs, just remove it to get access it may be held down by alan screws or something similar.

The 'messed up valves' is a common problem when the timing belt breaks....that's why wolfen said to get the wallet out. The replacement engine should be identical to the old engine.... one basic engine design is used in many models. Have fun down there.... it's getting chilly in Ohio and winter will soon be here.

Odd Starting Problem
Published (2009-11-29 18:38:00)
Well if I remember correctly when I changed the injectors a few months ago, I had to take the upper intake off (the piece of aluminum that says 3100 on it on the top of the motor). After that, the fuel rail needs to come off, and then you can get to the injectors. I did notice something odd when cranking during a hard start last night. The starter sounded like it wasn't getting full voltage - it was cranking fine and then started to slow...

Kinda sounds like a factory antitheft system kicking in. The dealer says there's nothing wrong with the MIL system yet you have a light? Have another dealer or a parts store pull codes on it.

Hey all...I have a 2003 Chevy Malibu LS with the 3.1L engine. It has trouble starting after sitting for between 1.5hrs to 6hrs after cooling down from being hot. No theft lights on the dash, no check engine, it'll just crank and crank and crank and then start. It does always start, but takes a LONG time of cranking. Here's the list of parts that have been replaced on it: Fuel Pressure ...

Hi dehalas Check if there is a hood light, in the past these were notorious on jeeps for killing batteries, because the light would remain on or the assembly was internally shorted to ground. If there is a hood light, remove the bulb or unplug it then re-charge the battery. It will be a good idea to check your door switches, interior dome light manual switches and see if any are turned on ...

Try " very carefully" spray around the intake manifold with a can of carb or injector cleaner to find the vacuum leak I think you have. When found that idle speed will change noticibly with the intake off the cleaner.I'am sure you already looked at the pcv valve and hose for large leaks. If you've got access to a mechanics stethescope you may be able to trace down the leak by sound. They have also ...

Hi walldo Check all your ground connections, make sure all ground connections to the chassy are not loose corroded or broken. Check your fuse box to see if there is a burnt fuse or a shorted fusible link to the alternator or starter replace as needed. If there is an external rectifier make sure the connections are not loose and it is well grounded. post back your findings.

That's the problem with open diffs. Is limited slip or posi available?? I agree the locker could ruin something unless it is only used when needed. If you forget to disengage the locker and drive on dry pavement you will ruin something. At least a posi will slip when you are turning (you can hear a clicking sound) preventing damage to the diff.
